Hi Blue Sky!
This is “Earth, Poppy, Sky,” one of the little art quilts I make with vintage linens and more.

Did you know that covers, like the one pictured here, were made to keep insects out of milk or other liquids? Placed overtop of a jug or pitcher, these were primarily used before refrigeration. The beads alongside the outside helped keep the the cover in place.

Yesterday was #NationalTextilesDay. Preoccupied with a cemetery association meeting and visitors, I missed it. But that’s okay, bc at my house every day is Textiles Day!❤️❤️❤️

Hannah was a good dog.❤️
For #NationalPetDay, let's meet some #CKCCommunity pups! Hannah, Flower, and Annie were pack mates at the Texas home of Charles and Suzann in the late 1980s. When Suzann finished knitting a blanket with a dog patterned trim, the dogs knew intuitively it was for them!

*Every* person deported to El Salvador with Kilmer Abrego Garcia and Andry Hernández Romero deserves to be returned to the US and given due process.
I understand why some get more attention, but they *all* need to be brought back.

This turned out so cute!❤️
It started as a vintage embroidered hanging pocket or pouch—embroiderer unknown. I trimmed it, pieced a background, and embellished with vintage tatted trim and old red buttons.

There’s a reasonable amount of knitting in L. Frank Baum’s 14 books about the land of Oz. Don’t recall crochet being mentioned. Hmm. Guess I’ll have to reread them all to see if I missed it. Oh darn.

I learned three new words so far from L. Frank Baum’s The Emerald City of Oz: volplaning, Zouave (re: their pants), and shako.
His books were written for children.
