The writer I most want to meet some day is @jconnollybooks.bsky.social because I must know more about how so many random Jewish things wind up in his books. Like these Heroes of the Torah glasses (in The Woman in the Woods) that my friend gave me for my 40th birthday.

Whoever lives 3 buildings west of my polling place and has this sign in their window is awesome.

The Upper West Side of Manhattan will be there and is spreading the word! (Photo taken in the plaza outside the 72nd St 1,2,3 subway station.)

Me: Can you print this in color?
Justin: Dammit. Another rat pic.
Me: But a cute one. [The last one I sent was a close up of scary rat teeth.]
Justin: The in thing is texting nudes, not vermin.
Me: It's a naked vermin
Justin: [no response]

Masks save lives.

Between a shitty doctor's appointment, my air conditioner being vandalized, my flight being delayed by 2 hours AFTER I got to the airport, new attempts to ban masks, my friend finding out her cancer is worse than initially thought & getting a blood clot, and writing stagnation, I am beaten down now.

Two fortunes:
1. You have a deep appreciation of the arts and music
2. Luck is coming your way.

May it be so.

God bless sip masks. I only survived today because I was able to safely drink coffee through a straw while waiting for my mom during surgery for cancer in a hospital full of unmasked people.

If you think Hamas is a force for justice for anyone, please go ahead and eat shit. You are neither pro-Palestinian nor do you give a flying fuck about human beings. You make the world a worse place for everyone.

Kindness is also masking in public.

This is the air quality in my office, w/6 people in a cluster at desks with short privacy panels and MERV 15 filters in the HVAC system. We CAN have better air quality if we prioritize it. It infuriates me that people can't be bothered. (I'm masked, but I feel less stressed because it is safer.)

My ghost mezuzah arrived. This is from a building (ul. Twarda 28) that was a 20 minute walk from where my grandfather (z"l) lived. I shiver every time my fingers touch the mezuzah cast-turned-mezuzah. How many times did he walk by it? Did he know people who lived there?

Last night of Hanukkah/first day of the new year. Despite the odds, may it be a year of less darkness and more light.
