Pre-election Mark Carney might want to have a word with post-election @mark-carney.bsky.social.

How are liberal voters okay with this?

This is an astonishing reversal, with impacts on the quality of life for Canadians that will be generational & which promotes the growth of fascist movements. 🧵1/

Canada’s top 1% have $1.25 Trillion, more than Canada's poorest 80% combined. They get billions in new tax cuts.

Not only is covert white supremacy socially acceptable; critiquing it or even just naming it is increasingly seen as socially unacceptable, or even as a radical instigation to violence deserving criticism or punishment.
Just saw that an Indiana lectures was removed from teaching a “Diversity, Human Rights and Social Justice” class for teaching THIS graphic.

@nicomaramckay.com, here's a report presented to the House of Commons by EGALE in december of 2024. I don't know of anyone maintaining an up-to-date public list as new incidents occur & new legislation is passed, but I expect they'll publish a new report: egale.ca

Bye bye heuristics, hello even more fascist normalization by any means possible.

Study: a 1% rise in inequality corresponds to a 1% rise in support for right wing populist movements.

@mark-carney.bsky.social inherited the worst inequality in Canadian history & immediately gave the rich several huge tax cuts.

Do the math.

Of all the dumb bits of dishonest whataboutism die hard @mark-carney.bsky.social supporters hurl at me, by far the dumbest is a lazy presumption that if I directly cite IPCC science to demand better climate policy I must be a Poilievre supporter.

Because climate action is what cons are known for?

The first Jim Crow was enacted under the auspices that racism is a necessity and a great and natural moral good.

The second one is being enacted under the auspices that racism doesn’t exist if you claim you don’t see it and anyone who questions your motives about that is oppressing you.
Roberts has always felt that the suggestion that white people might discriminate on the basis of race is a profound moral injustice, much greater than black people being denied the right to vote bsky.app/profile/jayw...
Everything about John Roberts's approach to the Voting Rights Act makes sense when you remember that John Roberts has has always been hostile to the Voting Rights Act, never believed it was appropriate, and has spent most of his 45-year legal career working to hollow it out.

A nation building project for you @mark-carney.bsky.social

A national post office has been considered one of the most fundamental nation building projects for centuries.

I genuinely & respectfully want to understand something here, @heathermoandco.bsky.social

If preventing the growth of fascism in Canada needs to be our top priority, why don't you express concern about Carney's economic policies that fascism scholars tell us will help empower fascist movements?
Fascism scholars tell us pervasive inequality serves as a primary catalyst & focal point for the rise of right-wing authoritarianism. Carney policies magnifying already record inequality can only serve to increase the momentum of domestic fascist movements.

To Carney, "Elbows up" means buying American jets, building a pipeline to sell our oil to the US, joining a US missile defence system, opening our markets to more American dairy, and kissing the American president's ass at every opportunity.

This is what you voted for, is it?

Harper made Canada the worst climate performer among industrial nations, ranked 58th best by the international Climate Change Performance Index.

Trudeau made Canada an even worse climate arsonist than under Harper, dropping us to an even more dismal 62nd place.

Rapid escalation of the worst police state tactics & violent assaults on its own citizens in America continues to breathtakingly accelerate.

NRA types who insisted they were only here to oppose tyrannical government are so gleeful to be assaulting citizens without guardrails in the service of one.
So armed Federal officers will come to your house in the dead of night, and you must identify yourself—again, while you are doing nothing but sleeping in your own home—and you will be deported without due process.

“Free country” shit. Cool cool
America enters a new, dark chapter: "Kavanaugh Raids" on entire buildings and neighborhoods, a chapter surely to be remembered as infamously as we now view the "Palmer Raids" of the first Red Scare. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/welcome-to...

Investing in nuclear power *never* helps reduce emissions but *always* hinders efforts to decarbonize. Nuclear power is absolutely no friend to the climate.

But a major nuclear project is one of the Carney government's first proposed "major projects" anyway. 🧵 1/

The reason Mark Carney & his government still refuse to say the word "genocide" is to avoid meeting Canada's international legal obligations as signatories to the International Convention on the Punishment and Prevention of Genocide.

His latest token gesture is about keeping Palestine defenceless.

Every single time that a nation invests in nuclear power, it hinders progress towards decarbonization rather than advancing it. Every. Single. Time.

Nuclear is absolutely none of the things that a serious climate solution needs to be.
