Vance asks for a "little bit of patience." Sound familiar? Hoover plunged the nation into Depression asking Americans "if you will have patience".

Meanwhile, a taxi driver with cancer in Arizona has premiums go up from $44 to $2,600 a month.

it's time for journos to start asking Johnson meta questions

"Speaker, on 5 occasions last week you said 'I haven't seen it' when asked about news events w/big implications for public policy. Do you ever read the news, and do you agree it's problematic for the Speaker to be so woefully uninformed?"

He said, "When I win, I will immediately bring prices down, starting on Day One"

He lied

But what's worse-he didn't even TRY to lower prices

Instead, almost as soon he got into office, he started hitting people with tariffs-making things infinitely worse

Devastating news.
What happens when the Administration for Strategic Preparedness & Response is not strategic, prepared, or capable of responding because it's run by an unqualified anti-vax scammer?

Thanks to @brandyzadrozny.bsky.social's always excellent reporting, we have a clear view of the ongoing ASPR disaster.
1/3 John Knox, anti-vaccine activist, is now acting head of ASPR -- the agency that handles pandemic response.

He’s called COVID vaccine campaigns “nothing other than genocide.” 😶

Not exactly reassuring...

New reporting from @propublica.org finds that Oklahoma’s social studies standards, written with the help of the right-wing group behind Project 2025, now include roughly 40 points about Christianity that students should learn as well as skepticism about the 2020 election and COVID-19’s origins.

October is #BreastCancerAwareness month.
As of 2024, 2.4M women worldwide received Herceptin. It also helped scientists realize that #breastcancer is heterogenous, paving the way for more targeted treatments. The 5 yr survival rate went from 75% in 1980 to 92%.

I've never grasped why the public isn't always in full support of independent regulatory oversight and transparency of the food and water supply. So many allow themselves to be gaslit by corporate interest that is always trying to cut costs. You'd think we could all agree on a safe food supply.

There were 70 human H5N1 cases in 2024. The response in 2024 could have been better, but at least it was a response. There is no response now. Maybe over the summer it wasn't such a big deal without as much flu around. But H5N1 is around now. And CDC isn't.

Grateful to @saveamericamvmt.bsky.social for supporting and amplifying. We are in really terrible trouble.
