1st round of radiation done for my new abdominal tumour. Easy peasy this time compared to 4 years ago, just 3 sessions. It’s kind of like getting an x-ray that takes 15 minutes. The biggest challenges are staying still despite various itches, and not falling asleep. #canceradventures

Boo. I was enjoying this until it all sort of fell apart for me in the last 10%. Too much saccharine schmaltz, fireflies, attempts at ‘magical realism’ and page after page about a sheep named Elaine. #booksky

I moved to Hurstville in Sydney recently, and I didn’t realise Sumner Locke Elliott, author and homosexualist, was a local from just next door in Kogarah. Here he is remembered in tile.

When did the words "waist" and "waste" become so hard to differentiate. Please stop posting about your waste, because EWW.

A happy afternoon unpacking books and arranging my bookshelves after our house move. Sone have been in boxes for several years. Hello old friends.

It’s stories not story’s. You converse you don’t conversate. You simplify you don’t simplificate. I mean, I could keep adding to this list but frankly I think my head would explode.

Post yourself from a different era

[Me (far left) at Kaos Comedy Restaurant, 90s. I had the biggest crush on the guy I'm sitting next to. It was very much unrequited.]

I'm packing box after box of books, and getting reacquainted with some old friends. Cudos to 16 year old me who had the good taste to buy 3 Dragon's Dream titles way back then; Syd Mead: Sentinel, Roger Dean: Views and 21st Century Foss. I know nothing of Dragon's Dream but they loved a trippy font.

I'm packing to move house next week. I'm not sleeping well, my new cancer meds are giving me hot flushes, and every night is a bedclothes on again, off again scenario. I'm stressed, but I have a loving partner and supportive friends with offers of help. We'll get through this. All will be well.

It's a good day when the new release book 5 of a favourite series jumps to the top of the TBR pile. "Carnival of Lies" by D.V. Bishop, the 5th installment of the Renaissance detective Cesare Aldo series. This time he's left Florence, for Venice in the year 1539. Intrigues ensue! #booksky

I'm currently packing up the apartment for a move in a few weeks, and at the same time my new cancer treatment is giving me menopausal style hot flushes. Hoodie on. Hoodie off. Rinse, repeat. It's like the worst striptease ever. #cancerjapes

I finally got around to seeing the 2021 film Firebird, as it was just added to the free streaming service (SBS OnDemand) here in Oz. Oh my, such a beautiful, sad, poignant film, especially knowing it's a true story. It was released last year in Japan and I love the Japanese poster (pic 2). #firebird

I was just searching for a user on Instagram and amongst the suggestions was 'does it cake pop', and now I really want to know if does, or doesn't. TELL ME.

I know most adult film actors use stage names, but to learn that Gabriel Cross and Scott Wild are in reality Ben and Paul blows my tiny mind for some reason.
Watch this space… exciting new project coming soon!

I've just started reading The Will of the Many by James Islington (Heirachy book 1), and oof the world building is great. A fantasy blend of classical Rome, with a bit of Dark Academia, and an almost steampunk lack of tech. That actually doesn't do it justice. Book 2 isn't out until November. [sad]

I’m loving the Murderbot series, but the episodes are too short! I want more! #murderbot

Happy birthday to this dead set hottie @tomtheotter.bsky.social. More than 5 1/2 years together and we're still making each other laugh daily. I love you, happy birthday.

If you see this post, find a pic of you from five years ago and post it.

(The early days of the Covid lockdown, wearing a crazy night cap I knitted for fun. Before my cancers were diagnosed, and with noticeably less grey in my beard.)

Yay, I made the cut for the cancer drug trial I was signing up for. Just waiting for the US board to approve. Extra scans showed nothing new, just the one lymph node I knew about. Treatment should start soon. It all feels like making the best of a bad situation. #prostatecancer
