Exciting wildlife encounter at #WALBEL with the appearance of a "large mouse" on the pitch! #JoeRodent showed excellent footwork to outsmart the Belgian keeper. #WALvBEL #JoeRodon #CroesoyGymru #Rat #Largemouse #FAWales

There were so many #fungi in #Casehill woods today that there wasn't #mushroom for anything else! 😄 35 species seen. My personal favourite was a delicate coral #fungus.

Fascinating walk along Penarth seashore on the lowest tide of the year. Amongst the usual beadlet anemones I found an unusual #seaanemone and would appreciate help with #identification. Could this be a red speckled anemone? @sewbrec.org.uk @thembauk.bsky.social #rockpooling #sealife

I finally paid the extra charge to visit the castle at #StMichaelsMount and I'm very glad that I did! Not only does the Chevy Chase dining hall have a fantastic frieze, but the windows are full of #stainedglass. @nationaltrust.org.uk #glitchart #digitalart #reimagined #glitchlab #glitch

Visited the @tatestives.bsky.social and was so inspired by the works of Liliane Lijn, Barbara Hepworth and John Wells that I created this digital re-imagining of #StNicholasChapel.

Fantastic views of the rather charming phalaropes at Lisvane reservoir. Both grey and the single red-necked phal were very happy to feed close in. #birdingwales

A beautiful northern wheatear was the highlight of a pre-rain walk to Lavernock Point. Significantly fewer hirudines than yesterday. Also of note: skylarks over and a few chiffchaff in the hedges. #birdingwales

Full #TdF vibes on Caerphilly Mountain during the #TourofBritain earlier. Scary lack of coordination of road closures afterwards though - at least one RTA seen on a supposedly sterile course! #Safetyfirst

Enjoyed a great day with hundreds of fellow #cycling fans watching the #TourofBritain. Noa Isidore led the pack up The Tumble at a mind-boggling pace.

Looking like the product of a child's imagination, this fantastically terrifying wasp spider was lurking with intent at #Cosmeston in #Penarth. #spider #waspspider #ukwildlife #nature

Wonderfully moody skies at Rhos Point this morning. Bonxie offshore harrying Sandwich Terns, with a GBB Gull keeping a close watch. Pairs of Common Gulls and Oystercatchers on shore, with small groups of Cormorants streaming by, and 20 or so Herring Gulls bobbing around. #birdingwales

Great trip to the #JMWTurner exhibition @holburnemuseumbath.bsky.social Whilst there, I noticed that this #watercolour of a 'Rainbow over a Swiss Lake' is unmistakably a #Fogbow, rather than a rainbow. Fogbows form as colourless arcs in mist and fog, often over or near lakes. #atmosphericoptics #art

After only 4 years searching, I finally found my first Purple Hairstreak...only for it to be snatched by a blue tit! 😱 Thankfully, there were more, and I got to enjoy some prolonged views (and take some award-winning photos) of this elusive #butterfly. #ukwildlife @savebutterflies.bsky.social

Brief but productive moth-ing session in #Penarth last night. A few new species for the garden, including the Uncertain (which took ages to ID 😄), Lesser-broad bordered yellow underwing, V pug, and a couple of beautifully pearlescent Mother of Pearls. #teammoth #mothsmatter

Strange day in Stratford Upon Avon...a jaw-dropping performance of #Hamlet #HailToTheThief at @the-rsc.bsky.social, whilst racists and conspiracy theorists roamed the streets outside. "The Devil hath power to assume a pleasing shape" - #Shakespeare @radiohead.wastehq.social

Cycled West earlier and joined in the #fritillary fun. Lots of Dark Green Frits on the wing (I'm sure I will also have seen some of their rarer cousins, but couldn't positively id any without optics). Also seen: Comma, Ringlet, Meadow Brown, Small Heath and both flavours of White. #butterfly

The solution to a failing business model should not be a move to an #SSSI. Aqua Parks are leveraging biodiversity to extract profit from a community asset. The #Valecouncil have ignored impacts on amenity and character and are complicit in this race to the bottom. #StoptheAquaPark #Cosmeston

Lovely to see so many swifts enjoying the hot weather over Penarth. A flock of over 40 birds was the largest I've seen for some years. #birdingwales

Great turnout at the #Cosmeston protest today. A strong message to #ValeofGlamorgan council that you can't fix one environmental issue (poor water quality in Cardiff Bay) by creating a much more significant impact elsewhere. I'll be donating to the crowdfunder www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/save-cosme...

Last day of my trip to the Wye Valley and whilst my search of Coppett Hill for Fritillaries ultimately proved fruitless, I was happy to find my first White-legged damselfly and a few Yellow Shell moths. #teammoth

Magical afternoon watching Wood White butterflies making the most of the nice weather. I visited a few sites in Herefordshire and also saw Quail, and my first Twayblades and Dark Bush Cricket. #butterfliesbybike #butterflies

A windy day to hunt butterflies 🌬🦋, but we were lucky to find some Small Pearl-Bordered Fritilliaries in the Vale. More excitingly, we found the Welsh TARDIS! #butterfly #fritilliary #UKwildlife #TARDIS #DrWho
