Grew up working class but got an engineering degree and became a professional so I guess now that makes me an 'elite.'

The concentration of wealth in the hands of an elite few isn't just bad for our economy. It's corrosive to our democracy.

When the wealthy and well-connected control our political system, the American people don't have a voice.

The result is demagoguery and corruption.

Just read the response from Costco to shareholders requesting it back down from DEI. It was glorious. It begins "Our Board has considered this proposal and believes … an enterprise rooted in respect and inclusion is appropriate and necessary." and gets better. A happy investor #diversityandinclusion

Supreme Court 18-year term limit bill should be just the beginning:

— 13 justices
— 7 clerks per justice
— single 18-year term
— binding code of ethics with punishments all the way up to impeachment
— full investigation of corrupt gifts to Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, et al.

The combined net worth of America's twelve wealthiest people just passed $2 TRILLION.

12 people. $2 trillion.

The bottom half of America collectively holds $3.5 trillion.

Wealth inequality is eating this country alive.
America's 12 richest men now worth a combined $2 trillion
Their net worth is less than $2 trillion short of the wealth of the bottom half of the U.S.

🚨IMPORTANT REMINDER:

Social Security and Medicare have nothing to do with reducing the deficit. Even former President Reagan knew this.

Don't let them gaslight you into cutting OUR benefits.

PASS IT ON.

Any decision algorithm includes implicit bias from real-world data used for configuration or training. That's why "the bill requires companies to conduct impact assessments for bias, effectiveness and other factors, when using automated decision systems."
Just adding support for Sen. Wyden & co's proposal for Algorithmic Accountability. As they say: "When algorithms determine who goes to college, who gets healthcare, who gets a home, and even who goes to prison, algorithmic discrimination must be treated as the highly significant issue that it is."

I should have said "spirit" of Section 230 instead of "intent." 230 was OK when first created but could not anticipate the scale that allowed algorithmic promotion to flourish. If amended, it should be left as is for smaller service providers (but not sure what 'small' should mean w/o research.)
Big tech algorithms are designed to retain their audience or generate the most clicks and therefore they often surface and promote the most cruel and biased responses because those drive outrage and therefore clicks. I think this violates the intent of Section 230 and should not be allowed.

🚨Are you one of the 112 MILLION Americans struggling to pay for health care?

You can thank the health insurance companies who funneled millions to lawmakers to make sure they keep America as the only industrialized country without gov't-guaranteed medical care.

Looking for the truth? Don't look to the 'main-stream media' news conglomerates... their corporate masters are too concerned about clicks and profit to care about truth.

I disagree that centrist Democrats lost the election. I think the overall choice to build a big tent was a good one, and things would have been worse if they had not.

But I also think these particular guys lack any useful political insight or imagination and have no business driving Dem strategy.
I wrote about Seth Moulton, Rahm Emanuel, James Carville and other more centrist Democrats blaming progressives for Harris's defeat. Their arguments, in terms of election analysis, are weak. But we are in the midst of an intra-party conflict with high stakes. wapo.st/3ZGh5UV
Opinion | Centrist Democrats lost the election. They should quit blaming the left.
Whether to use he/she pronouns in emails wasn’t a factor in the Harris-Trump race.
