Please keep Ramona in your thoughts, she’s not dealing well with the fact her childhood city of Portland is war ravaged…
Oh wait… never mind… it’s ALL FICTIONAL 🤦🏻‍♀️

…walked through the homes of authors like Dickens, Austen, Twain, Wilde, & Dumas, climbed the tallest monument in the world dedicated to a writer, stood under King Arthurs’s Round Table, and had several other bookishly delightful adventures.

Since visiting Corfe Castle (the inspo for Kirren), I’ve been to Anne’s Green Gables, cried over Beth in Louisa May Alcott’s house, said hello to Paddington, Peter Pan, and Sherlock in London…

Have you ever thought, “I just want to jump into this book!” Same.
For me, it started with The Famous Five. I wanted to join them at Kirren Castle.

Look, I’m never going to tell you books aren’t political, but I’m just interrupting your doom scrolling to remind you there are corners of the internet where we indulge in whimsy still.
Sub to my blog/YT/socials if you just want to climb into the nearest book. 📚

I love coming face to face IRL with characters who lit up my childhood through pages.
The statues of Paddington Bear, Peter Pan (two actually!), and Sherlock Holmes are one of the reasons I love visiting London. And did you know you can find Ramona Quimby in Portland, OR and Alice in NYC?

I started A Suitcase Full of Books TEN years ago! So here’s a throwback to the first trip that started it all. Corfe Castle, Dorset, England in the footsteps of The Famous Five.

Come with me to my favorite local independent bookstore to find a book on my TBR list by a local author!

Just some of the posts on my blog covering topics I never dreamed would become politically problematic 🤔
It turns out that a well read woman IS a dangerous creature and travel IS fatal to prejudice.

I’ve lived in Alaska my whole life, and I’ve never actually read John Muir’s Travels in Alaska, other than the short section about Juneau. I just downloaded the kindle version from Project Gutenberg the other day so I’m finally going to read the full book.

Do you use AI to help you write?
I don’t, but when my husband asked ChatGPT to write a bio for my blog it spit out one sentence I particularly liked: “…offering her audiences immersive experiences that bridge the gap between fiction and reality.”
Thanks AI, I guess that is what I’m doing!

A2: I think Anne of Green Gables has influenced my travels the most… been to PEI 3 times now, one of those was for my wedding.

I only had a few hours in Dublin so I visited the Oscar Wilde museum and statue. I must go back!

A1: The most literary city I’ve visited? London. You can find Paddington, Peter Pan, Sherlock, and a few other characters in the city as well as visit Dickens’ home, and walk by tons of other author homes.
