New Jersey is no stranger to destruction from intense storms, which are happening more frequently. We’ve seen an increase of nearly double the amount of extreme storms over the past 50 years. In addition to changing storm patterns, even under a moderate emissions scenario, New Jersey can still expect five feet in sea level rise by 2100. But we have hope. The New Jersey Protecting Against Climate Threats (NJPACT) NJ PACT regulations will ensure that we are resilient against the storms we know are coming, and are already here. Specifically they will help residents and businesses mitigate the destructive impacts of climate change. But they are facing enormous pushback, and we need informed, vocal supporters to make sure they are enacted as soon as possible, to help save lives and protect property.
