Hey everyone. Hate that I have to post this. My dog was hit by a car tonight and suffered a shattered leg and damage to her intestines. Surgery and medical expenses are roughly $20,000. It’s been a rough year and anything helps.

Favorite game of the year.
Thirty-three days ago, we released Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

Since then, we’ve sold 3.3 million copies.

Seriously. As of today.
We couldn’t make that up.

Another entry on the long list of surreal moments that your support has made real.

Thank you ALL.

So, the first draft of Book 2 of the Mothers of Sorrow trilogy is finished. Now I have to do a whole lot of editing until somehow this rough hunk of coal becomes a diamond.

It’s called The City of Sun and Stars, and comes out on October 2nd 2025. Pre-order link in comments.

This candid and well-written thread pretty much sums up what it is to be an author.
I've been thinking a lot about my author career lately, and the precarious position I feel like I'm in.

I haven't put out a book since 2022, and my next isn't until at least May 2026. All the publisher folks who first acquired my debut are gone. My momentum is very stalled.

This is a statistical impossibility for most authors to achieve.

By and large, we love the industry and of course the work itself, but the stats are daunting.

To loosely quote Richard Swan, each new book deal just feels like a stay of execution, not a solid foothold for a career.
