Well that was unpleasant @essexpoliceuk.bsky.social are taking forward as a minor traffic offense and won't give me any further update on the outcome.

It's nearly always a mistake to read the comments on news reports about close passes. Hopefully Newsquest take block this vile account from further comments.

This dangerous close pass was on Argents Lane where a cyclist was killed in a road collision one year ago. When reported to @essexpoliceuk.bsky.social the result was a warning letter. Essex Police are not serious about Vision Zero and protecting cyclists.

Well that’s a first - pillion passenger on motorbike attempted to kick me as they close passed me. @essexpoliceuk.bsky.social taking forward as a prosecution.

Not sure why this taxi driver thinks blowing his horn will make this road wide enough to pass safely

Great week in Ceredigion. No issues with 20 mph limits - made built up areas feel much safer.

Course or conditional offer for this close pass on North Station Road. Does this mean that Essex Police have finally improved their standards after nearly a year of some inconsistent and at times ridiculous decisions?

Great weekend in Manchester and Liverpool

Great day supporting my lad at Manchester marathon. Rode 45 on Bromptons on Manchester fantastic cycle network. Now back to Liverpool for the night where it seems quite lively!

Course or conditional offer for this close pass in Colchester. Absolutely no need for driving like this.

New tyres time - these Continental Grand Prix 4 Seasons have done me proud - thousands of miles with no punctures

Warning letter for this driver from @essexpoliceuk.bsky.social. Better than the usual no further action but I'm dubious if it will change the driver's behaviour

This wouldn't be too bad at speeds up to 30mph, but on a national speed limit roads it's rubbish. Not worth reporting to @essexpoliceuk.bsky.social as they have become completely unreliable at acting on close passes.

Nice bike shed at the Tin Roof cafe near Maldon. Most cyclists aren’t using it because of the awful racks.

According to the Essex Police Extra Eyes service this isn't a close pass. It's no wonder the @colchestercycling.bsky.social has been forced to declare no confidence in the service.

Lovely ride to Hadleigh in the sunshine. Slightly marred by two ridiculous close passes.

Only one unpleasantly close pass on today's wonderful ride. The driver had another metre of road they could have used to give us more space. No point reporting to @essexpoliceuk.bsky.social though.

Lovely wide pass from this driver - not sure why the passenger gave us the finger as they went past
March 7, 2025 at 4:53 PM
Couple of close passes to report from this morning's ride. The other 100 or so drivers that passes us managed to give enough space.

This woman killed 71-year-old cyclist Ian Morris because she couldn't resist sending and receiving messages on Facebook and Snapchat.
Put your phones away while driving.
