It's nearly always a mistake to read the comments on news reports about close passes. Hopefully Newsquest take block this vile account from further comments.

In contrast, why this close pass at speed was judged considerate is a complete mystery. Either @essexpoliceuk.bsky.social object to cyclists being two abreast or the magic 8 ball that generates the decisions was playing up.

This wouldn't be too bad at speeds up to 30mph, but on a national speed limit roads it's rubbish. Not worth reporting to @essexpoliceuk.bsky.social as they have become completely unreliable at acting on close passes.

Nice bike shed at the Tin Roof cafe near Maldon. Most cyclists aren’t using it because of the awful racks.

Only one unpleasantly close pass on today's wonderful ride. The driver had another metre of road they could have used to give us more space. No point reporting to @essexpoliceuk.bsky.social though.
