U.S. House: 38 of 38
State Senate: 15 of 15
State House: 150 of 150

We Did It, Texas Dems, We Did It
Candidates in every legislative, statewide, and federal race. Now it’s time to build power where it counts.

The @padems.org need to censure this fool fetterman
Last night Fetterman voted to allow Trump to execute people at sea, today he wants to give him a Nobel Prize. Just no core principles.
FOX: Do you think Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize?

FETTERMAN: If this sticks. I think the whole point of having a Nobel Peace Prize is for ending wars and promoting peace. And if he brings the Ukrainian war to its end, I will be the Democrat leading the committee for his Nobel Prize Peace.

One day you're living in a constitutional republic, the next day the president is calling for the arrest of governors and mayors
I will not back down.

Trump is now calling for the arrest of elected representatives checking his power.

What else is left on the path to full-blown authoritarianism?

Seems like if the administration had a strong legal theory for killing people in the Caribbean, they’d be willing to share it publicly.
Good question from Senator Coons.

AG Bondi refuses to disclose what legal theory if any from DOJ justifies these premeditated killings in the Caribbean.
COONS: How did you conclude that these strikes on boats in the open ocean are legal?

BONDI: I'm not going to discuss any legal advice that my department may or may not have issued

trump saying domestic violence is nbd

trump's pedophilia celebration birthday card to Epstein released

SCOTUS green lighting racial profiling and "papers, please" policing

This is important. The first 24 hours of press coverage fumbled the ball. But the US just murdered 11 people in international waters. Analogies to the US’s (highly suspect, morally and legally) targeted killings of suspect terrorists don’t work. This crossed their own lines, and they know it.
1/ I worked at DoD. I literally cannot imagine lawyers coming up with a legal basis for lethal strike of suspected Venezuelan drug boat.

Hard to see how this would not be "murder" or war crime under international law that DoD considers applicable.

Legal Issues Raised by a Lethal U.S. Military Attack in the Caribbean
The Trump administration’s extraordinary lethal attack on this purported smuggling vessel raises significant potential legal issues.

After being obstructed by the city attorney's office in June, the Dallas Police Oversight Board expects new police chief Daniel Comeaux to attend our September meeting at city hall to discuss collaboration with DHS and ICE.

This is one of the questions I submitted in advance today.

one of the things about the modern carceral society is that while crime is near its all-time lows, the prison population is not. one reason is that things like this—which were barely crimes for most of this country's history—are now charged as felonies.

This is what fascism looks like — masked agents arriving, uninvited, at a governor’s event to intimidate a political rival. The idea that the Border Patrol would accept such a nakedly authoritarian assignment six months into the Trump admin should terrify us.

3 individuals in the US have (hoard) more wealth than the bottom 50% of the population combined. One of those 3 just spent $274m to buy an election. This, folks, is an oligarchy.
Elon Musk spent at least $274 million to elect Trump, making him the biggest donor of the 2024 campaign.

His net worth is up approximately $60 billion since the election.

Chris 100% correct, per usual.

The Right will use everything to divide us: race, religion, gender, etc, but this is all an intentional distraction. The true battle, where conflict actually persists, is between the working class and ruling class, or as Molly Ivins said, the top and the bottom
It’s never been about the fighting between left or right, it’s always been about the fight between top and bottom.

who’s surprised that the advocates propositions S, T, and U (yes I’m aware that’s also my name), were right?
Been a while since I've posted something from the stack of memos that goes to the Dallas City Council every Friday night. But this one caught my attention: "Moody’s has affirmed the City’s ratings and revised the General Obligation outlook from stable to negative."

Here's why:

Just to be clear, this weird MAGA turncoat can't unilaterally direct the police or any other city department to deport anyone. Dallas is a council-manager city and he's one vote on the council. There are only 2-3 Trumpers on the entire 15-person council.
Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson says city will help deport undocumented migrants accused of crimes
During an interview Wednesday on Fox News, Dallas' mayor also suggested there needed to be stricter security at the U.S.-Mexico border.
