They're not, though, and someone should tell her.

It's also the sicko scene for the past couple of decades, just a different Amazon

I mean, also, she can hit. George Kennedy can't hit, but she can hit.

Aw, dammit. No one else has read Terra! and I'm pretty sure it's out of print in the US.

Why, are you finally getting around to Stefano Benni?
November 20, 2025 at 1:35 AM
Despite its massive weakness, we have fallen far from the shining example of The Last Broadcast.

Also you cannot convince me that this isn't a Weft-inspired song

They're scarier and there's a sense of danger to the whole fight, which makes them better. I like the one fight Joseph has where he shows he's still got it despite metamorphosing into a dad guy

I mean, so do I, it's just the type E version (combination of D and C)
November 19, 2025 at 10:59 PM
JR just sitting in the middle of the universe-sized city from BLAME going "this shit hitting"

I cannot understand people who hate taking a dump. It's an unburdening of the body, mind, and soul, and also a chance to do some light reading.
November 19, 2025 at 10:55 PM
Oh, yeah, we got to the part with the land whale, the murder cults, and the constant global cooling/decapitation scenarios.

Fuckin' JJBA: Stardust Crusaders. "We have a clever power and magic system that allows for multilevel intense battles, how do we handle all this?"

"Our main character is John Cena."

One of the modern "isekai" I love is Dead Mount Death Play, a series written by this guy who does sprawling multicharacter multiviewpoint stories where everyone's an absolute nutjob and also has superpowers, where one arc features a giant hitman, a pyromaniac hivemind/hypno cult, and yakuza ghosts.

It's on its fourth season! We're going through season 1 right now on the discord I'm in and that's "this idiot will die horribly," the fun of Re:Zero isn't just its mystery but also knowing that for every stupid thing Subaru does, you get to see him face consequences for it and try to do better.
November 19, 2025 at 10:48 PM
I'd love to, but other than Carlin, Oswalt, and Wright, have many of them written decent books?
November 19, 2025 at 10:44 PM
If everyone's cool, then it's all mainstream and thus shit
November 19, 2025 at 10:43 PM
Oh, and Zenshu, which is "we hope this emotionally affecting and beautiful artwork will help you forget we did everything but whip the animators we forced to work on consecutive seasons of anime without a break"
November 19, 2025 at 10:42 PM
I've somehow only found good isekai but it's shit like "this is now about how great vending machines are," "the world's best dad ends up in an otome game," "this idiot will get brutally murdered repeatedly," and "weirdo necromancer ends up in modern Japan that's more insane than he is"
November 19, 2025 at 10:41 PM
I don't f/w anime reviewers that much but Sturgeon's Law applies to any genre of anime even harder than every other form of art. But worse than any genre of anime are its fans, and worse than its fans are its haters, because that's where you get the most HOA-brainrotted pylons.
November 19, 2025 at 10:39 PM
People who complain about isekai are weirdly the most objectivist, egocentric right-wing nutjobs I've ever met, and strangely convinced somehow they're on the left
November 19, 2025 at 10:11 PM
Mostly the isekai fans are engaged mainly with the somehow weirdly even more right wing isekai haters, who operate under a thin veneer of HOA-grade context collapse.

There actually was a comic that answered these questions, but most superhero fans hated it and then it gave rise to Mark Millar, who didn't bother to understand it was answering questions at all and leaned hard into sadomasochism, edginess, and a villain named "Three Willy Seth."
