SPD claiming CCTV cameras "reduce crime" again

20 days ago when approving SPD's massive CCTV expansion (despite massive community opposition), council said CCTV was only for investigating and no one at the city claimed they prevent crime so pointing out they don't prevent violence was meaningless.

How far can SPD’s CCTV cameras see? SPD currently uses Axis Q6100-E/Q6135-LE CCTV cameras.
Per Axis, the camera can:

• Detect at a distance of 6,014 feet, over 1.1 miles
• Observe at 2,385 feet
• Recognize at 1,200 feet, 4 football fields
• Identify at 600 feet, 2 football fields

SPD's Real-Time Crime Center has its own logo. Its a camera lens looking at all of Seattle, nothing dystopian about that at all.

SPD only got this technology because city council & the mayor ignored massive community opposition to it (and CCTV) including from the people they appointed to the CSWG

The area along Aurora where SPD’s cameras can recognize someone is more than 4x what SPD claimed it would be. SPD’s cameras are surveilling @ppfa.org Northgate Health Center. SPD can identify anyone going into or coming out of the health center.

Harrell's office sent out a press release just before 4 pm admitting the 2024 number is bogus & saying the correct number is 933. This correction still isn't posted on his website an hour later.

Bob Kettle doesn’t know what surveillance technologies he rubber stamped for SPD last year.
