Hmm. Tie backs don't stop it being more/'new' O&G

All but iron clad planning reform rule is that they deliver less than claimed. And their bill was pretty tame.

We may have a 2nd bill with more teeth but doubt that impacts this side of a GE regardless of content
November 26, 2025 at 3:33 PM
Maybe the courts throw out his tariffs but quite possibly only part of them.

Trump doesn't go until 29. And even assuming new POTUS unwinds them (thats far from certain as a whole) its much too late for a Q2 UK GE
November 26, 2025 at 3:30 PM
Well as long as its only supposed to be seen in terms of trying to fight off a leadership election in Q2 maybe it adds up. For anything else its 🐴💩

Afaics 1.7bn/pa becomes an uplift of 1.5bn on the warm homes budget over 3yrs (lets call it the parliament given the risible backloading of savings/taxes)
November 26, 2025 at 3:03 PM
I'm sure for some its marginal. But sometimes there is a perfect piece of music - or at least a perfect piece of music at the moment in time you saw it and forever after with nostalgia.
November 26, 2025 at 2:58 PM
That last really spoils some memories. Not Scrubs but other shows where I remember a particular scene and go to rewatch and they have totally ruined it with some 'we had to change the music and this was the best we could get/afford'

Just awful.

You already have road pricing just a crude version so the argument about public transport applies regardless - its not really a PPM argument. As I say GPS/ToU is the best way to reflect rural drivers need in a pricing system

Only way to not use blunt instruments. Its clearly the direction of travel globally. So its when not if imo

Around 8% of R capacity loses RO ~'27 and 7% by 30/31 iirc.
November 26, 2025 at 1:45 PM
Depends entirely how you do it. The ideal version of PPM is GPS/ToU which would see a lower rate for rural communities.

That is not how the present policy works as they have gone for a very crude (if cheap) way to monitor it.
November 26, 2025 at 1:31 PM
PPM is the obvious way to do road pricing but thats for ***all*** vehicles not just EVs.

And in choosing the date to phase it in for EVs you have to make sure it doesn't slow the transition. This clearly fails that test.
November 26, 2025 at 1:19 PM
I reckon the FD freeze lasts at least until Y1 next parliament when the fact the backloading of this budgets 'cash today, pain in the year of the election' finally has to balanced.

HMT Spad1: See I told you we could nudge people just across a line and then gut the funding for those freezing in cold homes and people wouldn't notice.

HMT Spad2: Pimms o'clock!

Given the extent to which this budget has been leaked out by Gov already its absolutely consistent that this has happened!
November 26, 2025 at 12:16 PM
I'd settle for a ban on petrol ones. They are a bit pointless but the electric ones are not that annoying.

🤣 Took me a second to work out what the heck they were on about

On a returns label for something I ordered it says "we don't recommend using ____" which I don't think Ive seen before...
