In '24 the GB electricity mix was 124g CO₂/kWh ie 1TWh=124k tonnes. If the UKs CP30 target is hit that falls to ~15g. Adding assumed BECCS near or below 0.

Yes a CCGT might burn at 400,000t but there is no chances ☢️ will be displacing that CCGT on a 1:1 basis or within a country mile of that

Tbf to the UK Gov's Nuclear Regulatory Taskforce report I think the 'lead regulator' argument is good (& should apply outside nuclear) I'm generally sympathetic to the JR/Aarhus arguments as well.

But some points are a bit 😩. Eg the discussion about emissions

30mi before the record.

R's deployed out even if at high % are lowest cost power thats the whole point. Then its about Tx, storage (eg Bess, Snowy) and reserve capacity.

Really the perfect winter weather combo for an electric house. Cold but clear.

Today's 🌡️ : -2 to 4c
🏠🌡️(Live) : 21.5-24c
Heat Pump : 5hrs

Even scheduling cooking/dishwasher/washing machine etc while I was out solar has almost covered it.

Neither of the two Sco regions pay the highest price in GB. S Sco is below the GB average.

Wind assets are priced by the market & built bc of GB support mechanisms and pooling of costs.

Oh for the love of god 🤦

Ah, proposing building a bess next to a pylon, OHL and a big substation and within 90m of a hydrant.

Fire Service didn't object

So naturally this had to go to appeal. Successfully

Still top marks for 'concerns' on fire risk when the actual occurred fire risk at the site might be prevented by...!

Even in CP 30 (esp in New Dispatch) small amounts of gas actually run at high frequency even if at low output.

Renewables 📈 essentially changes the gas unit running to a lower price unit than the counterfactual.

As you can see in you 🖼️ Sealink and Norwich which I mentioned much earlier are not on track for 2030

If you read down you'll see of the 8 identified projects bringing them forward is difficult

But even supposing you could bring all of them even to 2030 (you can't) that doesn't fix '29 prices
November 16, 2025 at 11:05 AM
Delivering 1 project in 29 just doesn't move the dial. It fixes only one bit and is against a backdrop of lots of new capacity hitting the system making things 'worse'.

There are some scenarios eg a gas price collapse which could transform price for 29 but low odds.

Surprised it needed googling but it does have an annoying determination that you really want to look up star wars.

I can't get it to generate the monthly pretty gfx atm but I'm btw the pair of you.

Been a lousy Oct for solar (at least here)
November 2, 2025 at 2:26 PM
Exactly, nationally pooled costs for a regional issue.
November 1, 2025 at 11:53 AM
Idk which region you are in but neither of the two Sco regions are even the highest in the UK (which isn't in any case the highest in Europe even if it is near the top depending on exactly what comp is being made)
October 31, 2025 at 6:44 PM
😩

Setting side that the gen has been paid for by the UK (ie Eng mostly) the two Sco regions are not the highest

Bloody sunshine conspired against me so I only managed abt 17kWh over the session.

A longer session I could have sustained a few kWh more or less; easier once the sun went down.
October 27, 2025 at 12:11 PM
I fully discharged before the session but the sunshine is still making importing hard work!

HMT was trying to find that wiggle room long before trump. Its not a trump issue.

But their ability to get more out is limited in that depleted basin
