Went out to the garage at 6:15 this morning to work out, and it’s already disgusting. Why do I live here again #stlwx

Surprised this is the first one I’ve gotten. Hard surface = LVT, usually comes from S Korea or China. Soft surface = carpet.

Everyone watching to see if Corey Booker can beat some old dead racist at Long Talking like the kids in Matilda watching to see if Bruce Bogtrotter can eat all of the big cake

The Massachusetts Naval Militia:
TIL that the first ship built for the Massachusetts Naval Militia (1776) was called TYRANNICIDE

I’m convinced some of the quagmire we’re in now goes back to kids sleeping in history class. See also the pre-WWII “America First” movement. Same “I’ve got mine, screw everyone else” vibes:

If I leave my phone unattended, my girls will change the wallpaper to any image that results from googling “the world’s biggest poop”.

This was unexpectedly bad when I scrolled my camera roll with my hair stylist to find hair pictures I saved. Had to explain that and my 💩 search history.

The measles outbreak in Texas is reminding me of the public letter Roald Dahl wrote about losing his daughter to measles in 1962, just before the vaccine was publicly available.

just stumbled on a real jaw-dropper of a line in an essay -- “The corollary of being interested in a great range of things is to have sympathy with a great range of outlooks” -- and that, my friends, is why reading is so important.

Caught a glimpse of myself while lifting today, and I was a dead ringer for Miss Trunchbull. It’ll be an easy Halloween costume this year, I guess?

The 10 y/o gallantly rescued the beer and soda in the unheated garage from a sad exploding fate at 6:30 this morning. She’s a mensch.

10 y/o: [telling v v long story about some kids, and casually mentions “horny teenagers”]

Me: …..do you know what horny means?

10 y/o: Yeah! Like the devil! *motions to horns coming out of her head*

We’re gonna let that one ride for a bit.

spent this afternoon reading some early US history (as one does) and was reminded of the important fact that these people were almost constantly drunk as hell

I’ve dealt with depression off and on for 25 years now. Anti-depressants are now a regular part of life, though I fought it tooth-and-nail because I thought it would dull me. Occasionally, like today, I get a glimmer the creative me is still in there. So glad she is.

Parents/Caregivers who have an Elf: you can write on toilets with a dry-erase marker. My kids know the truth, but they still have fun finding her every morning. Saw this on Pinterest, but the OP went all-out writing in chocolate icing for extra authenticity. I’m too lazy for that cleanup.
