I sat in town this morning outside a cafe with Dora-Pup & enjoyed a cappuccino in the unexpectedly humid September air & watched a handsome slicked back hair Italian boy be spoiled by his Mother, who arrived late & after ruffling his locks & going inside to order, emerged with a large plate of cake>

For you cheese-lovers out there.
Okay I think you are ready for this BlueSky. Let's talk cheese history.

More specifically, Yorkshire Dales cheeses, and how WW2 and rationing almost wiped out cheesemaking in northern Britain.

This is the story of the near-death of the world of one of the world's great cheeses: Wensleydale. /1 🧵

The president’s crimes
The oldest constitution in the world was not made for the political culture of modern America. The Supreme Court’s decision in Trump v United States is a symptom of its crisis

Fascinating and aspirational in several respects!
In the other place recently, @jacobgiffordhead.bsky.social asked why students study the subjects that they do, as part of an LLB. To help answer that question, I thought it would be interesting to post up details of the very first Bar Training Manual, written by Edward Cox in 1856.

Just seen a headline in one of the papers, saying Boris Johnson is about to publish his memoirs. A good time to remember this superb letter written during the pandemic.
