Mother of 2, trying to find my way safely through this hellscape. Interests are cooking, baking, knitting, sewing, gardening and keeping my kids healthy. Mask up. Covid is airborne.

Having a strained relationship with my family is foreign for me because we used to be very close. I see them sparingly but we do still drop things off for each other. Today my parents dropped off mangos and in exchange, I gave them a fresh baked loaf of bread.

Remember that coworker that almost died recently from pneumonia and sepsis? Well, he's back to being unmasked at work.

Just had an hour and a half long meeting with my boss. And we're both thinking, "how is this real life?"

Today, I noticed a coworker who was back to masking (surgical). He is in his late 50s and was one of the last to stop. He was noticeably skinnier and was already skinny to begin with. He told me that he had pneumonia and was hospitalized. He almost died because it turned into sepsis.

Genuinely losing my fucking calm with every single ‘self care’ ‘rest as resistance’ fucking post I see.
Wear a fucking mask.
Wear a mask.
Other people matter.
Put a fucking mask on.

Trying to de-stress so I'm sharing my latest knitting 🧶 project. It's a triangle scarf. Followed the campside shawl pattern on Ravelry.
Now onto my next project.

Visited my family yesterday. The talk is similar to when I see my in-laws but it hits diff. when it comes from my family. Maybe bc I have been brutally honest w/them about the research on covid. I've had to be gentler w/my in-laws.

The results are the same. I'm still the only one who cares abt it.

Update on the lizard: he's barely moving but somehow he's still alive.
October 21, 2024 at 6:46 PM
Today my daughter found a lizard that looked like it was sick or dying. She wanted to try to save him. He's currently lying in a glass jar, in the sun with some warm water. Seems to be opening his eyes and breathing more. We shall see...

Long COVID is why I'm still strategically masking. I'm not worried about getting horrible acute illness given I've been vaccinated many times and exposed several, but until the post-acute rates drop to similar to other viruses...

More knitting because the holidays are stressful and so is work. Glad to have something that I can lose myself in. Pattern is called Brette from rastus0226.

Silly thought of the day: the next time I buy socks, they will all be the same. Over time, I always end up with a bunch that don't match and it really irritates me.

I must be stressed because I've finished 3 in-progress knitting projects in the last 2 weeks. This one is finally done and now keeping my mom warm.

Today, I'm bringing 9 to her best friend's birthday party. It's at a park and I'm bracing myself to be the only adult who is masked. Hoping it's not too awkward. She's so, so excited.
