Does anyone know where I can get a COVID vaccine in the Bay Area?

Spoken to two pharmacists now saying that they don't have any and that they're on hold in a warehouse somewhere but I need one now...

I know almost two dozen languages and barely remember how to write a for loop in any of them
The final evolution of software engineer is knowing so many programming languages that you can't code in any of them and have to Google basic syntax.

So many people my phone lost service and cars have completely given up crossing Market Street with some honking or even getting out of their cars in support.

People passing by me at ~20 people per second. This has been going at a similar rate for ~30 minutes and shows no signs of stopping.
I've never seen this many people at Dolores park

There's so many people here that the cell phone towers nearby can't handle the traffic and my phone is struggling to post pictures.

The war on science in the US is already having an effect on private sector research like AlphaFold. Bears repeating but the private sector builds on top of things created by academic research for the public good. This hurts everyone.

HMMER is the bedrock of genomic annotation globally, and now its funding is terminated for no reason.

@cryptogenomicon.bsky.social is now on bsky:
NIH funding supporting the HMMER and Infernal software projects has been terminated. NIH states that our work, as well as all other federally funded research at Harvard, is of no benefit to the US.

HMMER is crucial to our modern understanding of protein biochemistry and has almost certainly generated at least a 10-fold return on investment for every dollar the US government has spent on funding it.

In my day people read the abstract when they wanted to pretend to be smart.
This sucks so much man, I’m begging people to just read papers and think with their own brain. Why are you even in this profession otherwise?

This is such a crackpot idea but has anyone run for Congress on the explicit promise that they will insider trade and use the profits to set up a wealth fund for their district?

If you have a free tech or biotech event in the Bay Area that doesn't feature pizza, beer, and AI I will advertise tf out of it
For almost a decade broke recent college grads in hubs like Boston and SF could eat for free and network almost every night as long as they didn't hit their pizza toxicity threshold.

That's no longer the case and I wrote a little about what happened and why I want this back.
