Looks like my local affiliate won’t be airing Kimmel which is all the more reason why I won’t watch most anything on KATU for the foreseeable future.

I’m in Bend, Oregon just hours away from seeing Neil Young perform finally after he canceled last year. Or was it the year before? In any case, I can hear him and/or his band do their soundcheck from my hotel room. It should be a memorable show even if my GA tix don’t get me that close to the stage.

It’s sad what happened to Charlie Kirk. At the same time I hope this is a wake up call for the GOP to actually do something about gun violence & pass restrictions on them. Not holding out much hope. They didn’t when Tr*mp got shot. They’ll likely place blame on everyone & everything but the guns.

Damn it! Australia has joined the list of countries putting a hold on shipments to the US due to Tr*mp’s tariffs. I just ordered a bunch of blu-rays from there as well. This asshole is causing so much damage to our country in ways I never thought were possible. The world is punishing us as a result.

While I really dislike the man (and his mustache), the raids on John Bolton’s home & office is horrible and I fear it’s a sign of many invasions to come by Tr*mp & his minions against anyone who dares speak out against him. What will happen between now & the midterms much less ‘28 really scares me.

RIP Terrence Stamp. Time to rewatch some of my favorite roles of his like Superman II, Priscilla & The Limey.
British actor Terence Stamp, who famously played arch-villain General Zod in "Superman" and "Superman II," has died at the age of 87, his family said.

I’m at my local County Fair waiting to see George Thorogood & The Destroyers play. I’d never pay to see them but since the concert was included with fair admission, I’d check it out. They’ve had some classic songs. This wayward son might even carry on & go see Kansas perform here as well on Sunday.

I’ve been watching a bluegrass show on PBS called Song of the Mountains. Not a big fan of the genre but if something catches my ear, I’ll tune in. One such group is a family band called Williamson Branch. Their female bassist is very animated. They’re a religious band where the girls married young.

Got around to watching the new Fantastic Four film. First Steps? More like Baby Steps. Glad that we got a decent adaptation of the comic. Had some slight issues with it but overall it was enjoyable. Even the female Silver Surfer was ok. I wonder how the FF gets to the main MCU for Avengers 5 though.

A guy is leaving odd politically charged notes around town targeting Democrats, including my Rep, @gluesenkampperez.house.gov. He also throws apples onto people’s roofs to get their attention. Will she respond to The Appler? Hope he gets mental help if caught. www.columbian.com/news/2025/ju...

Got done watching a 2021 concert film on my DVR starring Bill Murray called “New Worlds: The Cradle of Civilization” that TCM showed last year. Odd combo of classical music & standards interspersed with spoken word pieces by Murray. The film isn’t on home video, streaming or YouTube. I wonder why?

There are two notable people who passed away today. One was a jazz musician popular in the 70s and the other an iconic wrestler named after a comic book superhero. I know which one more people will be mourning today, especially those on the Right. I’ll be honoring the other one. RIP Chuck Mangione.

Damn it times two! I missed another music festival I wanted to go to called Hare Fest that’s devoted to tribute bands. It was last weekend (7/17-19). This is what happens when I don’t put these things in my schedule. July has been filled with my making mistakes when it comes to trying to see bands.

Damn it! Talk about a first world problem. Bought tix for both nights of Regina Spektor’s tour stop in Portland for this Friday & Saturday. I wasn’t expecting any concert conflicts on either of those nights. Now I see that a fest I wanted to see w/ Iggy Pop & DEVO is on Saturday. What to do?

Noooooo! This one hurts. Let’s be honest though. It’s amazing that he lasted as long as he did. RIP Ozzy

RIP Malcolm-Jamal. Talk about a death no one was expecting to happen so soon nor in the way it did.

If a movie or TV studio has material that they have no intention of releasing even though it had been previously shown to the public before, I feel that if someone has access to that stuff, they should be able to put it on YouTube or another video sharing site for the benefit of people everywhere.

@tcmtv.bsky.social Recently a YouTube channel dedicated to archiving many of your host introductions & interviews over the years (9+) was shut down. I have my suspicions who did it. The channel was doing a huge service for fans. It’d be great if TCM let the channel continue or made them available.
July 18, 2025 at 2:52 AM
Even though I haven’t regularly watched the show for quite some time The Colbert Show was the only program on CBS that I even bothered to watch. Now that it’s being canceled under suspicious circumstances, there’s absolutely nothing worthwhile on the network. Sorry, “Ghosts”.

@newrepublic.com Can’t say for sure it was NR but it seems too coincidental that shortly after I recommended a YouTube channel dedicated to archiving TCM segments on a post about your political films list, it was taken down. For years they were doing fans a great service. Now it’s gone. Your doing?
July 18, 2025 at 12:49 AM
I’m still thinking about my possibly being responsible for getting a guy kicked off of YouTube who had a channel devoted to TCM host intros & interviews because I recommended it in a reply I made to The New Republic. NR or someone read it & maybe reported them. A huge invaluable archive is now gone.

Watched a depressing 2018 doc called “American Chaos” that followed the filmmaker as he crossed the US before the ‘16 election to see why so many of people were voting for Tr*mp. Their reasons for backing him were based on dis/misinformation & lies that fed on their fears. Sadly it worked. TWICE!!!
July 13, 2025 at 2:45 AM
Was watching some TCM. Went to a channel on YouTube run by someone who has recorded most of the host segments for years. Saw it was taken down. Week or so ago I posted on the @newrepublic.com feed about a series they’d done for TCM & recommended this channel. Was the guy busted because I did that?

This is great news albeit a little unconventional. I’m glad that Native Americans are doing more to help protect people’s health, regardless of who they are, than the Tr*mp Administration. www.columbian.com/news/2025/ju...

Watched a movie on the Silk Road guy. Not that good. Depressing to know that since the film came out in 2021 that Ross Ulbricht has been pardoned by Tr*mp despite all the crimes he committed. I guess if another better film is made about Ulbrecht’s life, they’ll have to update it.
