In my many years on study section, I can’t recall a perceived lack of innovation being scored driving. A highly innovative grant, whether conceptually or technically, definitely would get a boost as that generally aligned with being able to approach a question that could not be before.

I was there today. I think one challenge is that most have not read the Compact or really know what its implications are. It is much easier to get folks to rally around someone they like and respect than to do for for a group of concepts, as significant as they are for the University.

If you are reducing figures such that they can only be read when you zoom in on screen, that is fundamentally what you are doing. Figures should be fully legible without magnification.

I’m sorry, but not only is that unfair to other PIs if you try to circumvent page limits like that, but a clear, well-thought out data figure (or model figure) is going to do a lot more to support rationale/feasibilty of your study than a couple extra sentences might.
