In November 2024, before Mayor Dickens axed the project, Smith was still on the record that her NPU was “supportive of transit on the Beltline.”

It took less than a week after the Portman donations went through for her to change her stance against MARTA, which operates the Atlanta Streetcar.

Joy, more bullshit from the anti-good-things coalition.
INBOX: I'm looking at campaign finance disclosures for Atlanta municipal elections filed last week.

It appears NIMBYs have coalesced around Courtney Smith as their preferred candidate for the open District 2 race, which covers the neighborhoods where the Streetcar East extension would have served.
New video on #Atlanta Beltline Rail out now! This one went through 27 different revisions 😵‍💫😵‍💫

Republicans just ended the rule of law, you are not mad enough.

Get these ghouls out of office.
just a completely normal thing for a republican member of Congress to do apparently

no one with any power or authority will despise out against it, the media won't cover it as racist or xenophobic they do if you dare show empathy for Muslim people

@kirstengillibrand.bsky.social should resign. Disgusting and racist behavior to suggest with no basis, over and over again, that the next mayor of New York City is calling for all Jews to be murdered. You are not a representative of the people and certainly do not belong in elected office.

This is not enough, we've got to start yelling. Call them what they are, fascists. This is the end of our democracy and we're tut-tutting while they smile as they lie about what happened.
The Administration's actions against Sen. Padilla are egregious and part of their continuing assault against any form of checks and balances.

There is no sugarcoating this: These are dark times for our democracy.

I stand in solidarity with my friend & colleague @padilla.senate.gov.

They do not care about your rights. They do not care if you live. They are an occupying army and they view you as the enemy.
Via @btnewsroom A protester was shot in the head as Los Angeles riot. Police fired rubber bullets, during an anti-ICE protest. Community members say police refused to call an ambulance despite her bleeding. Her current condition is unknown.
June 9, 2025 at 3:44 PM
They are trying to kill her. Full stop.
Content warning: blood, serious head injury. A woman was run down and trampled and clubbed by LAPD officers on horseback. She appears to be seriously injured and bleeding from the head as an officer drags her limp body along the pavement.

The NYC Dem party would rather watch their city burn than cede any ground to people who understand what we need in this era.
Rank @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social 1st if you want someone who is going to lead.

"the 4 of these people raised 100k! One of them was half of that" 😂
Glad they broke it out though
From this morning’s Atlanta Civic Circle newsletter 🫶 Including our January disclosure, we’ve raised more than double all our opponents combined 😮‍💨

Anybody fighting against affordable housing in the city because they are worried about "the character of the neighborhood" (direct quote from those fighting against it) should consider moving to somewhere like Johns Creek, I'm sure the character of that neighborhood will fit their lifestyle better.
Some folks in Atlanta's NPU-M are organizing to oppose a couple of multifamily infill projects on Highland Avenue.

As a scare tactic, they shared an image of another project the developer built. It looks adorable. Why do people fear adorable infill? I don't understand.

Getting really tired of these gadgetbahn projects with unlimited funding to enrich a bunch of bullshitters. This city will spend money on anything as long as it doesn't solve a problem.
Atlanta. We do not need tiny tourist clown cars. We need mass transit that benefits Atlanta residents and commuters. When is the mayor going to stop caving to business interests and move forward real sustainable transit options for the people who actually live and work here?

Looking forward to @kelseabondatl.bsky.social getting elected and doing the same in Atlanta!
BREAKING: The Chicago City Council has voted to create a city-owned nonprofit housing developer.

The city will now move ahead with Mayor Brandon Johnson’s plan to build affordable, mixed-income, sustainable housing.

The moratorium City Council placed on heavy equipment during sweeps ends this month. It’s essential that the plan to move forward is not just based in compassion and respect for houseless neighbors, but that’s its evidence-based and data-driven. Sweeps don’t work.

Transit needs to stop being an afterthought.
This is a rendering of Beltline rail from ‼️1960‼️Atlanta could be a city that prioritizes a green, equitable future for working people — but instead, we’re decades behind where we need to be on public transit.

🌷Happy Women’s History Month! 🌷

It was great to attend the Atlanta-North Georgia Labor Council’s Women’s History event last night. With both women’s rights and unions under attack at the federal level, it’s even more essential that we organize on the shop floor to fight back!
