Environmental advocates say that the US has reversed its position on "capping" plastic production in the forthcoming plastics treaty. The Council on Environmental Quality insists that it's a "clarification" of the original position. from @jbwinters.bsky.social

The US no longer supports capping plastic production in UN treaty
Environmental advocates understand the announcement as a reversal, calling it “absolutely devastating.”

Jeffries: This is the lesson you've drawn? From the election in November? This is your priority? That you want to bully a member of congress? As opposed to welcoming her to join this body?

Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance. Each year, the trans community loses too many lives, especially trans women of color, to hate and violence.

More than ever, we must stand by our trans family and support them, hold space for them, and insist the scapegoating and targeting stop.

Now.

I wish that the article had pointed out that the reason car makers went to touchscreens is because they were cheaper. I'm guessing the pendulum is switching back because users know it sucks and are avoiding them and likely the US heading towards pedestrian safety rules for automakers.
Good story explaining why cars should have knobs and buttons -- and not touchscreens:

"There was this kind of touchscreen mania, where all of a sudden everything became a touchscreen ...Over time, people became somewhat fatigued."

I'm in love with my students in our online MA in History program. They are grown ass adults who know why they are here, their work is excellent and always on time, many are high school teachers who know the basics and are hungry for next level thinking and analysis. They are a goddamn delight.

I just stumbled on a trove of weepy TikToks and aggrieved posts along the lines of "My family/spouse/parents/kids are cutting me off just because I voted for Trump and I can't believe politics can divide us this way!"

It was an absolute delight.

trump is the benevolent czar and if bad things happened under his watch he clearly can’t be responsible for them. it was his evil advisors!
Disturbing: A big reason Trump won was undecideds couldn't be persuaded that millions of jobs lost in 2020 and death of Roe were Trump's fault, internal Harris campaign polling showed. Biden/Ds let Trump rehabilitate himself to disastrous effect.
