Can confirm, I did say this, over on Threads. I stand by it here as well. And everywhere else!
“Re ‘There are a lot of people on your side who will be in the Epstein Files too!’: No there aren't, my side is the ‘People Who Don't Fuck Children’ side, anyone not on this side can get all the way into the bin, what side are YOU on, exactly?” — John Scalzi

BY THE WAY

If you've updated to Windows 11 recently, you're probably on version 25H2.

There's a new setting in Settings: Privacy & Security.

Scroll aaaaaaaalll the way to the bottom and you'll see "Text and Image Generation."

TURN IT OFF.

We've hit the evening fussies phase in the baby's development. The only thing that seems to subdue the nightly possession is a papa assisted dance party to... Oingo Boingo. I am thrilled. His mother is not.

In other news, my newborn has befriended every person he's met. He's also befriended some inanimate objects. He may, possibility, be an extrovert. But we'll withhold judgement until we sign him up for musical theater camp.

So I'm not a big horror reader, but I have a special place in my heart for certain types of body horror. Alien Clay by @aptshadow.bsky.social burrows into that place and lays eggs. I really love this book.

Why do people hate on Practical Magic? That movie is wonderful. Is it the almost all female cast? Sigh, its that isn't it? People are lame.

What makes that Mafia so bad? I wanna know!
Perfect crew for a time heist:

-A time-hopping puzzle genius investigating her dad's death;
-Her explosive expert (kind of) ex-gf;
-An assassin running from their city's worse mafia;
-&the weirdo hiring them to rob their own family at an anti time-travelling event.

I'm literally doing a rewatch of Practical Magic right now. And nail art magic?!?! This sounds fantastic.
PRACTICAL MAGIC x SEVEN YEAR SLIP x WITCHFUL THINKING

A magicless, loveless witch, and nail artist performs a spell using tea, helping her gain what she once lost, her dreams; leaving fate to give her a few gifts: a soulmate when she sleeps, and magic from her nail art.

Oof a rough but important read for us writers trying to take the traditional path for making money with our art.
This is a really important read about how the current capitalist formations are shaping what books are available to readers and which writers get a chance to publish a book: thewalrus.ca/the-publishi...

Places to get your audiobooks from that aren't Amazon/Audible:
Your local library! I get paid nicely there.
Kobo (and KoboPlus)
B&N
Apple Books
GooglePlay
Audiobooks.com
Chirp
Libro FM
Folks, if you love audiobooks, if you want creators to be able to keep MAKING audiobooks, you're going to have to start... paying for audiobooks. Not subscriptions. Audiobooks themselves. Because Amazon are absolutely intent on paying creators even less.

They aren't cheap to make.
