Everything was fine lol
Everything was fine until Trump decided to unleash violent raids w/o grounds in elementary schools, shopping areas, & peaceful public spaces.

ICE then illegally blocked Members of Congress entry into the facilities they are disappearing people into, escalating the situation.

Let’s start there.

Need to connect with someone who knows the voting rights restoration process in Virginia inside and out. Anyone know who that might be (other than the SOS)?

Supported one student’s transfer app to NYU (although I’ll miss having her in class!) and another’s bid for an internship through the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and both were accepted! So proud 🥲

Literally on the subject of gun control and regulation in class, and my students tell me about the active shooter at FSU. There are just no more words. Hoping for safety for all my friends and colleagues and the greater FSU and Tallahassee community.

I do not understand these lamentations re: a perceived dearth of conservatives in academia. I guess it was their commitment to Maoism that led university presidents to sic cops on 19-year-old student protestors

corroborates my dissertation findings! when a policy benefit for loved ones/their community is at stake, those proximal to incarcerated/formerly incarcerated citizens turn out at higher rates
Another great paper on criminalization & political behavior! This one looks at Prop 47 in CA, finding that census tracts w higher levels of incarceration saw higher voter turnout when the ballot initiative was on the table (and more support for Prop 47 itself) onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....
