At this point, although I’m sure I’ll get some unfriendly remarks, I’ve had it being quiet over out the incredibly gendered discussion about who is safe and not safe at #ottcity City Hall. Men, just sit down and take the weekend. I’m not defending the measures, but read the room. Honestly.

I will miss Renée Amilcar. She should be proud of her work to stabilize ridership and get Line 2 open, and her insistence on transparency, blunt talk, and the patience to explain the engineering without condescension. I will miss her unbridled enthusiasm for buses and trains and vision for transit.

Renée Amilcar has led OC Transpo through a period of unprecedented change. She’s earned the trust of council and her leadership at OC Transpo will have a positive impact on our city for many years to come. I will miss working with her, very big shoes to fill.
Renee and OC Owl and Glen, standing in front of an OC Transpo bus at the OC Transpo Food Drive in December 2024 Renée has led OC Transpo through a period of unprecedented change. Under her leadership we’ve seen stabilization of LRT line 1 and the successful launch of Line 2 & 4. She’s led the transition from diesel to electric buses, implemented a data-driven approach to management, and changed the culture at OC Transpo to improve transparency and accountability to council and residents. All while managing significant funding challenges since the pandemic. She’s earned the trust of council and her leadership at OC Transpo will have a positive impact on our city for many years to come. I will miss working with her, very big shoes to fill.
