Brexit was a con.

Sold on a pack of lies by fantasists, ladybird libertarians, chancers, xenophobes and spivs.

On this day of all days we should take a moment to remind everyone of that.

And there it is, a full on dictatorship. Elected officials told to vote for Trump immigration laws or be criminalised and imprisoned
We passed a bill in committee yesterday that felonizes elected officials if they vote against Trump’s immigration policy. Let that sink in. Duly elected officials will go to jail- will have a criminal record- if they do not vote for and support Trump’s policies.

By golly, Labour couldn't bark up a more wrong Brexit tree if they tried.

Strongly out of tune with 80% of their 2024 voters. Extraordinary mistake. That's substantially more than necessary to lose the 2029 GE.

But hey ho, they'd rather stick their necks in the sand.

One of the standout comments from an Auschwitz survivor yesterday was to recognise what you’re seeing.

We are seeing all the hallmarks of despotism and the stamping out of democracy

This an attack on academics and research, everything must be in line with the government’s ideology.

Sorry to rant on a Monday morning, but I can’t stand 4 years of the media fawning over Trump claiming to see qualities in him that aren’t there and rationalising his entirely irrational behaviour. He is dumb as a bag of hammers, nasty, dangerous and corrupt - why must we pretend he isn’t?
January 20, 2025 at 8:55 AM
This! Completely this!!

For too long Labour have taken the remain/rejoin/pro-EU vote for granted even while taking a worse line on Brexit than the Tories.

If they think the remain vote is loyal to Labour they are mistaken - if the Tories are first to reverse on Brexit Labour will be shafted
Strong, sensible, progressive move from Davey. It's time to really increase pressure on Labour from the Remain side. They musn't go into negotiations thinking the danger is only on the Leave side.
🚨🚨 Lib Dems are rightly pushing now more openly for more concrete rapprochment with the European Union. @eddavey.libdems.org.uk has just announced that his party wishes for the UK to strike a customs (union) deal with the bloc. 🧵

Completely agree with @peterstefanovic.bsky.social Indeterminate IPP sentences are a scandal. They should never have been introduced and when the law was repealed all those on an IPP should have been reviewed and given a fixed term. I hope the Govt does the right thing and gives the Bill support
