Canes and Oilers aren’t even in the same universe. Oilers will maybe get a WC spot and the Canes are a cup contender. I think we’re far enough into the season to be able to say that the Oilers will not be a contender unless drastic changes happen soon. Pretty disappointing.

Until the Oilers fix their goaltending, this will continue to be a disappointing season. They are constantly playing scared and have to play from behind in almost every game. This is not a recipe for success.

The Oilers can’t start Pickard again this season. So, I guess focus has to shift from finding a starting goalie to finding a backup—immediately. Really, they need to do what Colorado did and replace both.

After looking pretty good last night (minus not being able to score), the Oilers look pretty terrible again so far in this one.

I know he won’t, but I wouldn’t keep Pickard in net after this period. He’s been beat clean 5 times and has been lucky 4 of those were posts.

Not much to like in that game, but if the coach would ever let them play 5v5 the way they did the final minute while killing a penalty, they could basically score at will. Stop playing conservatively and just push the pace—most teams can’t keep up.

If you’re the opposing team, you just have to stay out of the box and you’ll be fine against the Oilers. The coach with 97, 29, and 2 on his team has them playing the most boring, low-event hockey in the league. Bonus is the goaltending sucks so you know you’re guaranteed at least 3 goals.

I’m done with Knoblauch. I didn’t like the Oilers dumping Woody because of poor goaltending and a small sample of poor shooting luck, but I understood it. The Oilers performance this year is worse.

This isn’t a slow start for the Oilers anymore, they are legitimately bad. Their system is bad, their goaltending is bad. They could be good, but they haven’t done anything to convince me they will be. Knoblauch is too stubborn and there isn’t a goalie coming to save the day.

The goaltending sucks and the coach has neutered the offense. Knoblauch has to either change his tactics or the Oilers should be looking to move on from him soon.

The Oilers were the better team to start the game. Lots of pressure and some great chances but Wedgewood made some saves. Then Colorado scores a quick 2 goals on 6 shots (and a 3rd called back for offside) and they looked scared to make a mistake. Goaltending affects the entire team.

No goal. I would say pull skinner anyway, but Pickard has been awful this season. The only thing the Oilers can do is play to need 4 goals minimum.
