Murphy: "We need to understand the choice we've made in this nation to subject our kids to daily exposure to violence is not just about what happens inside schools. For many kids in our violent urban neighborhoods, it's about trauma that's breaking their brains & causing them to be unable to learn"

There’s no longer any pretense this has anything to do with crime (there are cities or parts of cities in SC and Ohio that have higher crime rates than DC — send the troops there!). This is about establishing a precedent for Trump seizing control of the nation’s capital when he wants to.
WASHINGTON (AP) — South Carolina, Ohio also sending National Guard troops to DC in further escalation of federal intervention in Dem city.

It’s not a bug, it’s a feature! Isn’t this why *he* likes tariffs? Now everything is a transaction!
The CEO of a a multi-trillion dollar company went to the White House, openly handed the US president a gift made of gold, and his company got a special exemption to tariffs the president has illegally imposed.

Also, the Founders took bribery so seriously the Constitution bans it 3 separate times.

Horrible.
Because of DOGE, the Trump Administration is going to spend $130,000 to burn $800,000 of food that USAID intended for starving children overseas but couldn't deliver due to the massive cuts to staff and services.

DOGE isn't eliminating waste; they're literally creating it.

To add to this—just 16% of the students accepted in UVa’s first post SFFA v Harvard and post legacy ban class were Pell eligible.

About 50% of Virginia’s K–12 students live in economically disadvantaged households
for the record, just over 12 percent of students at uva are black or hispanic. 12 percent are asian. 5 percent identify as "multi-ethnic." about 57 percent of students are white. this is what Trump considers to be "DEI" run amok.

@booker.senate.gov Thank you for reminding me that one of the best ways to find your voice is to use it. Our country is threatened & sometimes I don’t know what to say first. Watching you, I thought, just start. And then keep going. What you did matters, to me and many others. 💙

I celebrate the 80% of Germans who did not vote for the far right. Do not make 19.6% of German voters into "the" German people (again).

"The" German people don't exist! The German population is diverse and divided, but voted overwhelmingly for liberal democratic parties.

What the Trump administration wants to do by creating these camps is monstrous enough. But a key thing I found when writing a book on concentration camp history is that when you establish this kind of detention, it tends over time to devolve into much worse kinds of camps.

I come from a family - both immediate and extended - that values service. It’s only in middle age that I’ve really understood what a significant “core” value that is. Some people don’t have it, don’t understand it, & belittle public service. And that truly describes the Trump administration.
that Trumpers think the US Postal *SERVICE* should be a profit-making enterprise exposes the fallacy in their conception of government

Encyclopædia Britannica will continue to use ‘Gulf of Mexico’ for a few reasons:

-We serve an international audience, a majority of which is outside the U.S.

-The Gulf of Mexico is an international body of water, and the U.S.’s authority to rename it is ambiguous.
