I got Yoreh-Yoreh from a yeshiva, but Make-ItSo from Picard. Jewish stuff and occasionally Star Trek. Seforim lover. I would write more if I had more self discipline.

former #jwitter, I guess now I'm #jewsky
When you think about it, all numerical systems of any base see themselves as base 10.

Never have I ever wanted to share the censored portions of the Talmud that discuss Jesus as much as I want to do so now.

Today is Sigd.

Celebrated by Ethiopian Jews as a holiday, it marks 50 days from Yom Kippur. Celebrants fast in the morning, read scripture, and have communal gatherings and celebrations as part of the break fast.

An old Jewish joke

A census taker comes to a Jewish man's house.

Q: Does Moshe Cohen live here?
A: No
Q: What's your name?
A: Moshe Cohen
Q: I thought you said Moshe Cohen didn't live here?
A: You call this living?

This is HUGE. The Israeli Supreme Court has ordered the rabbinate to allow women to take smicha exams to become rabbis.

A Rebecca jar.

The vaguely Mediterranean form, the Egyptian-style lotuses, and the inclusion of the Hebrew name "Rebecca" hark back to ancient times and the story of the biblical Rebecca at the well. (1897, Great Britain)

Amazing that a grown woman would decide not only to pick on some children, but then brag about it in public.

What's next? Is she going to brag about how she beat up kids in the playground? Maybe push some middle schoolers into a lake?

I think I found the single most expensive item on temu. It's a 3-Ton Diesel-Powered Mini Excavator for only 27K. Shipping is free but no returns allowed.

Fun fact: Hanukkah always starts on 25 of Kislev, but it can end on either the 2nd or 3rd of Tevet.
Wtf why is hanukah so late this year

The coverage of the NYC mayoral race is just more proof that we need to get the media to not all be concentrated in one city.

I submitted a paper where I quoted Targum Pseudo-Jonathan. (AKA Targum Yerushalmi). Apparently, recent scholarship has shown it to be a product of 12th century Italy, and not ancient Palestine.

I feel both cheated, and like I'm going to be a major know-it-all the next time a rabbi quotes it.

I'm watching a Baltimore city zoning hearing right now (riveting, right?) and they're trying to decide if a sukkah counts as a temporary structure and therefore needs a zoning variance.

Like every 5 year old at the seder they want to skip right over blood and go right to frogs. No one even bothers with pestilence.
The frogs have landed in Chicago!
