Alright my list is actually mostly about the group of Americans, lol — I can’t believe how completely culturally symbolic that whole exchange was for both sides.

- the Americans not understanding that the sweater is a practical garment; you must have one
- the Norwegians not wishing to be bothered AT ALL, nor to have to speak English, and were probably shocked to be engaged yet felt obligated to respond all the same
- the Americans missing the above

-the Norwegians not understanding the question, because the sweaters are naturally hand-knit by the family matriarch
- the Americans not understanding that in Scandinavia you are given your sweater, buying them as expensive souvenirs is just for tourists

For Icelandic Bluesky: are there typical Icelandic books that would be considered good “early readers”? We are going to be in the US for a while so I plan to buy as many books as I can to keep our language skills going.

He is reading stories that already offer concepts he doesn’t really grasp, for example: “the ant went in the bag. the bag was a trap” — he’s puzzled about the idea of a “trap” in a way that I think a 6-yo wouldn’t be? What books are even age-appropriate?
