I am a tired, frustrated, and cynical idealist.
You should play games you enjoy. No game is going to appeal to everyone. "I am not having fun" and "Casual gamers can't have fun" are very different statements, though. I play casually and I have tons of fun, so I know the latter is not true. I want you to be happy, though, so play what you like.

The game is fine for casual play. You don't have to make it a job. You can farm any boss you want for as long as you want and then move on to something else. Legendaries can pop up anywhere while you play. Prioritize fun. That's the cake. The loot is just the icing. An excuse to go have fun.

How do you get your disk back when the floppy drive stops working without the paperclip size eject hole?

We all do agree with respect to children, generally speaking. That's why we don't talk about it. There's nothing there to sustain an argument. There's more dissonance over an adult with views people variously support or condemn, and that discord keeps people talking about it.

Who is the 'you' that you're talking about when you ask 'what can you do'? If we're talking about ordinary folk, then engaging with other ordinary folk and addressing the concerns they have that lead them to support such people is the way to go, but ideally don't wait for it to get this far.

Hating gun violence and not wishing it on anyone isn't two things. It's just one thing. Hating gun violence and taking pleasure in gun violence directed at /anyone/ is two things.

I don't ask people to like Charlie Kirk. I don't. I do want people to apply their stance on guns consistently.

Wow. The 2600 and I are the same age.

These are the ones I could find with a quick search and fairly little motivation.

Typically I would be opposed to this but I can not argue with your reasoning.

You don't. You turn your attention to his audience and combat ideas with ideas. Using force against a person will not kill an idea, but instead increases the credibility of that idea in the minds of people who already lean toward it because you wouldn't need violence if it wasn't true.

Kirk gets the attention because there is disagreement. There is no disagreement that shooting children in a school is bad, and so there's nothing to sustain an argument. Most of us are far removed from both events so as to be unbothered, but the argument we are personally involved in upsets us.

Doesn't that describe everyone? Though I guess that makes it a very 'inclusive' phrase.
September 11, 2025 at 10:40 AM
There is no limit to what people can ask of you, or expect from you. Taking the time to reflect on things and question them means you're doing the right thing as much as you know how to, and you can't be blamed for not knowing everything. You seem like a pleasant person to me. Me? I'm trouble.

It's a very small section in a very long list of notes. I love to read the notes, too, but I don't remember half of it. If that one little section is all that caught you off guard, you're doing far better than I.

It was added in patch 7.3. From the patch notes:

A mounting animation has been added when boarding mounts.
* Motions do not apply to certain mounts.

The point I'm making isn't about what happened, it's about what would happen if everyone subscribes to the philosophy that it's OK and normal to use misinformation to sway opinions.

Anyways, I wanted to push back on this so honest people see someone else who values that honesty. You do you.

Myself, I'd include it on the basis that 1) I want an employer who can recognize technical expertise, and 2) I do not want an employer who's prejudice against me for my personal interests.

Being comfortable at work is important unless you're absolutely desperate for a job even if you hate it.

If everyone everywhere is spewing lies, then people listening to the most charismatic liar is expected. Integrity has always been the longer and harder path. Things get worse before they get better. Fighting corruption with corruption, though, breeds more corruption and helps no one in the end.
September 10, 2025 at 2:23 PM
There's no such thing as 'good misinformation'. At best, you get a short term gain before people learn you can't be trusted. To genuinely sway people, they have to be able to believe you're honest whether or not it serves your agenda.
September 10, 2025 at 1:02 PM
I think that's how it normally goes. People talk about what food they're having, a different spice they used, a game they played or saw, a song they heard. Just whatever comes to mind. Nobody I know is doing anything amazing millions of other people can't. The standard isn't that high.
September 8, 2025 at 10:00 PM
I don't think you need to do anything notable every few days, or do things that interest other people. You do you. Take care of yourself. If you can bring some comfort or joy to another that's great, but it's not mandatory or on a schedule. You matter as much as people around you do.
