I’m curious now if you know what a southern state is?

Exactly zero of the states listed here offering any type of coverage are in the south. I accept your concession.

Would you like to provide a source on Medicaid coverage that counters what I shared from Congress? Or are you conceding this one too.

This affirms what I said. The majority listed are not in southern states.

You’ve been corrected on this. bsky.app/profile/star...
Southern states do not. Most undocumented immigrants settle in the Northeast and Southwest.

Education isn’t a service for the immigrant. It’s an investment in the child that the child typically repays in adulthood. If you’re looking for more “fairness”, immigrants would pay less taxes bc they’re contributing without the upfront cost of a U.S. education.

The thing is, people that use emergency care in lieu of healthcare are typically unhoused US citizens. And you have to be in really bad shape (ie there’s an *emergency*) to receive that.

And you’ve been unable to cite any housing programs provided by southern states. Would you like to try citing a healthcare program instead?

You’re welcome to provide some evidence of this, but the truth is most undocumented immigrants do have health insurance and those that don’t typically just pay the cash rate for their primary care provider. Additionally they are paying for actual support systems like Medicare w/o ever using them.

This reinforces what I said. At issue here is a homeless shelter, not a housing program. And the governor cut state support despite the fact the shelter is utilized almost exclusively by local citizens.

2 thoughts on this - 1) border enforcement/“security” is incredibly violent and racist and Sanders has no business praising him for it. 2) by every measure the border was as “secure” under Biden as it was during trump’s first term.

I think it’s hard for the base to take your “joy” campaign seriously when you’re supporting a genocide and trying to effectively end asylum. Dems need to do some soul searching. If you guys manage to convince yourselves that she lost bc of her gender or race, your losses are only going to get worse.

Which social support system specifically was failing due to undocumented immigration?

You’ve also got people across the country losing their jobs because they’re black. And because of the banality of fascism, people that look like Tom generally have the option to look away and go about their lives like normal.

I’m a Latino living in a predominantly Latino neighborhood in Chicago and yeah things are worse. We’ve got secret police hitting us with their cars and using that as a pretext to arrest us. It’s not good here.

The border was de facto open and people moved freely in both directions. Which is to say it was the norm in the 80’s. It’s something entirely different today.

And housing programs by NGOs are *rare* and *limited*. They simply don’t have the funds. So orgs like CC and Annunciation House actually operate temporary shelters along the border, which isn’t a housing program.
