Our Evaluations

Too often we evaluate love, even God’s perfect love, by measure how we perceive the love of others.

The holy women of scripture were anything but submissive. Perhaps it is time, writes @rbratten.bsky.social, to develop a new biblical understanding of womanhood based on the actual women of the Bible.

Hasan Piker Just Gave His Millions Of Followers A Masterclass In What Not To Do When Detained By CBP
Progressive streamer Hasan Piker's recent detention by CBP at the Chicago airport has generated widespread outrage — and rightfully so. No US citizen should be interrogated about their political beliefs when re-entering their own country. But while CBP's behavior was egregious, Piker's response was potentially even more dangerous: he chose to engage in a two-hour conversation with federal agents without a lawyer present, streaming about it afterward as if this were just more content for his millions of followers.

It shouldn’t surprise us when evangelicals have zero concern for international development aid being gutted when so much of their theology is colonized to the point that justice is secondary to their narrow view of “the gospel”.

Much work needs to be done on the justice discipleship front.

While I might struggle with much of the UN politics (just as I struggle with much of the US politics), it's projects like this that show that the UN has a worthwhile place. Should it have been the UN? No, but it was.

As the #TikTokRefugee exodus continues in advance of the likely #TikTok shutdown, #RedNote may be a greater concern than TikTok. Setting aside national security concerns (real or overblown), if Snyder is correct, then RedNote is poised to more cultural harm than even TikTok may have been.
RedNote Gains Traffic Ahead Of TikTok Ban — But Sparks Consent And Control Concerns
Millions are turning to RedNote, a Chinese social media app, as its resemblance to TikTok appeals to users. But dig a little deeper, and the reality becomes far more insidious.

Contending For The Truth In Love
I was recently watching Gavin Ortland's "Are Catholics Christians? Why Protestants Can Say Yes." Setting aside the point of his video, and even (mostly) his ministry and conclusions, there was something he said that really resonated with me. …let's conduct our disagreement going forward in a way that honors Christ where we contend for the truth, and we do so in love. Gavin Ortland Contend for the truth…in love. It seems so simple. Orland acknowledges that he falls short, as do we all. I'm part of a number of groups and people that stretch, shall we say, me.
