Current creative fixation has been discovering Coco Wyo coloring pages and alcohol ink markers. This is a big deal because I lack major skill in art or color theory. But there are so many helpful posts/videos online that make this doable for me. I’m pretty pleased with my results! ☺️

What the world needs now is a healing MySpace Top 8 meetup of Kindness Avengers. Panel featuring LeVar Burton, Ms. Rachel, Elyse Myers, Bindi & Robert Irwin, Tabitha Brown, Steve from Blue’s Clues, and Dolly Parton in conversation with Elmo at a library?

Kindness for our hearts! I’m just sayin’ 💚 🌎

Sharing because it brings me joy, and maybe it could be useful to you, too? I make custom lock and home screens for my iPhone for each holiday/season. Here’s my set for Valentine’s. If it works for your phone, please feel free to use!

Just bought my first dozen Liberal Rocks! Love the tagline "Activism for Introverts." 😁 Give them a follow on Bluesky and buy your own rocks here: www.liberalrocks.com
Liberal Rocks was designed for a regime like Trumps. When protesting becomes more dangerous & people are afraid of speaking out, we need to spread our messages while remaining anonymous.

That's what I exist to do. Go to www.liberalrocks.com, choose you messages, and start protesting on the DL!

1000% yes! I've seen patrons spend hours at our reference desk trying to get information on these services, but in truth, we have limited experience and expertise in these matters. More training would be helpful, but dedicated resources would be a dream! #publiclibraries #socialservices
If you ask library workers to describe their dream library, one of the first things they’ll mention is having a social worker at the library (emphasizing the extraordinary helpers that they are!) 💚

Love that the Miami-Dade Library has social services to help neighbors access resources & programs ✨

Jennings: This salute trutherism is outrageous.

Rampell: Do it right now on TV! If you think it’s a normal way to greet people, do it right now on TV. Why won’t you?!

I ran the adult Game Night at the #library tonight, and everyone had a blast with Camel Up. It's a quirky, unpredictable betting game for 3-8 players, ages 8+, with an average playtime of 30-45 minutes. Bonus points for unique design elements and A+ storage, too. I highly recommend it! #boardgames

Fabulous thread! And numbers aren't just used to determine funding, but the justification of staff positions and our ability to meet community needs, so please - interact with your librarians! Ask for help! We are required to tally every service interaction to show we are actually necessary.
1000% this. Public libraries are actually pretty radical--free to all, and based on the idea that info should be available to all. Get a library card! Use your library! Those numbers often play into their funding.
I also keep thinking that we have to support our libraries.

Something you don’t know before moving from the West Coast to Chicagoland is how your dog will adapt to the winters. Well…Chewie doesn’t seem to mind at all! (Here he is basking in yesterday’s 32-degree temps. 😂) #snowdog #midwestwinter #midwest

Four winters ago, as a West Coast transplant to northern Illinois, I was panicked watching the neighbor kids on the frozen pond behind our house. Now, it's a particular joy to watch them clear the outline for their hockey rink and play well into the night. ♥️❄️ #MidwestLife #MidwestWinter #Midwest

How do things get so badly misdiagnosed? Last year, I saw a podiatrist about chronic pain in my left foot. After an exam & MRI, he attributed it to "inflammation and overuse." He prescribed orthotics and suggested surgery to either fuse joints or cut the nerve running across the top of my foot.

I'm in charge of creating the monthly take-home craft kits for adults at my library. This week's abbreviated hours meant a more-than-usual rush to get the new kits ready for Dec 1. I hope our patrons enjoy making this little fella & that he brings lots of joy this season! #PublicLibraries #crafts

I often wonder if people know that librarians spend roughly 42% of their time troubleshooting the public printer. (Ok, not really, but some days...gah! 😣) #PublicLibraries

Oooof. I feel that!
I’m not much of a meme sharer here, but this one really hits hard.

Our unhoused patrons typically keep to themselves, but tonight, one of our regulars joined our monthly Game Night for the first time. I wondered how my other players might respond. They were friendly & welcoming & everyone seemed to have a great time. Library people are all right. #PublicLibraries

Didn't expect to have a surprise cameo in Wicked spoiled as I sang along to the soundtrack playing at my local Target today. I stopped mid-aisle and was like...Wait! Is that...?!! 😅 If it was mentioned during the media blitz, I somehow missed it. Ah well! 🤷‍♀️

In a local mom group, someone asked for ways to meet new people, learn new things, and try new hobbies. My suggestion: check the adult programming at your #publiclibrary! Crafting classes, book clubs, lectures, and so much more. It's not just children's story time (though that's important, too!).

This obsession is unhealthy. Our horizons are fine. Also social media, for most, is not a job. It is not school. It is socializing. And it’s fine to say “I don’t want to hang out with Nazis, homophobes, transphobes etc in my free time.”
Opinion - The problem with Bluesky: It won’t broaden our horizons: In the wake of Donald Trump’s election win, the social-media platform has enjoyed a surge of new users looking for an alternative to Elon Musk’s X. But will it be useful, if it just creates an echo chamber for the left?

My sister died suddenly in her sleep on Mother's Day this year. Just 56 years old. It was (and has been) such a shock. This "growing around grief" feels true to my experience. 💔
