What a powerful article. I took a YA Materials class last summer for my grad program & it was the first time I understood how important/valuable horror is for teens. It's a safe space to work out some really messy stuff. I'm a huge scaredy cat, but I have a whole new appreciation for the genre.

This is my dilemma every year. My adult kids are 23, 26, 28, and 30. Some years I ask for wish lists and choose a few things. Other years I've done 3-month subscription boxes of their interests or gift cards to favorite places. Increasingly, though, I just feel like here's some $$, enjoy. 😅

it can't be fixed with orthotics, or a shot, & the suggested surgeries would have made no sense. The bones have been messed up since before birth; this didn't pop up in the past year. I am now scheduled for surgery on Dec 13th to fix it. It's a lot to process but glad to FINALLY have answers!

to last month. The pain has become unbearable. I found a new podiatrist. He did the same exam, same X-rays, same MRI as the 1st one. GUESS WHAT?? I have a genetic abnormality where 2 bones near my ankle have fused. It has caused widespread degradation of my foot joints & two torn ligaments. Also...

The orthotics only intensified my pain & both surgery options felt a bit extreme. We settled on trying a cortisone shot, which straight-up didn't work. At my last appointment with him, he basically shrugged his shoulders. I left feeling like I would just have to live with the pain. Fast forward...
