Our community mourns the loss of Chad, who lived with RET+ lung cancer for 2.5 years. He loved deeply, lifted others and faced every setback with courage. His passing is a heartbreaking reminder: we still have a long way to go. Chad deserved more time. #LungCancerAwareness

Was talking to a student today about the benefits of #smokingcessation. I always refer back to this chart which I find so compelling.

Quitting today has both IMMEDIATE & long term benefits. It ⬆️ survival by 🔟➕yrs & saves $13k/yr in the cost of 🚬 & health related expenses. 🚭

Anyone with lungs can develop lung cancer - AND at ANY age.

I was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer at 43 - with widespread mets throughout my body & brain - despite never having smoked.

We like to believe that our conscious or unconscious bias against people who smoke/d isn’t evident.

It’s time to change the conversation and reflect on our biases. Everyone deserves hope, compassion and respect, regardless of their smoking history and cancer type.

The lifesaving promise of a new national screening program for Australia's deadliest cancer
The five-year survivorship for lung cancer is 26 per cent. That is too low. The launch of the National Screening Program is just the start.

Had my good friend Anne Fidler had access to a free national lung cancer screening program, her Stage 4 lung cancer could have been found & treated earlier.
Australia's deadliest cancer to get new screening program
After years of lobbying from patients, the first ever national lung cancer screening program will roll out next month for people who have a significant history of smoking.

Australians - including people who have never smoked (like me) - have a 4.9% risk of being diagnosed with lung cancer by age 85.

George, a 36 year old UK-based yoga teacher, was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer.
