I visited Berlin for the first time in 1999. There was an air of optimism about the change that was sweeping through Europe at the time.

우리는 이런 걸 거짓 이분법(false dichotomy)이라고 불러요. 유능한 독재자라는 건 존재하지 않으니까요. 애초에 유능한 놈이 독재라는 비효율적이고 멍청한 방법을 택하겠어요? 자신을 유능하다고 착각한 독선적인 머저리가 우연히 권력을 잡았을 때 독재자가 되는 거죠.

세트에 백만원쯤 했던거 같은데 사실 다구 질이 좋지 않았음. 내 생각에는 아마 그런거 관용 선물로 나가니까... 가격을 세게 붙여놓고 공무원들이 나랏돈으로 선물하게 하는 그런... 그런 거 아니었나 싶음. 가끔 뭘 모르는 외국인 눈탱이도 좀 치고...

사실 저 서호 다구 세트... 항저우 서호 근처 가면 서호 기념품 파는 곳 있는데 거기서 팔았던 거 같음. 실크스카프랑... 항저우에서 뭐 이런저런 국제행사 하니까 그 때마다 귀빈 주려고 만든거 같은데 아니 그래도 우리 대통령에게도 예림당 정도 좀 줘보지...
