Will be interesting to see how Starmers proposals for new nuclear plants in Scotland are forced through

which we really don’t need with installed capacity 17GW of renewables

Scotland only needs currently 6GW on cold winter days

Yep Energy is reserved by Westminster. It’s the reason Grid upgrades are also massively delayed with the Tory governments from 2010. Starmer has now given it the go ahead

Tories sold fracking licenses in Scotland but the SNP government stopped it happening via environmental regs (devolved)

One of those ‘really don’t copy Denmarks policy ideas’ moment.
My sister lives near Roskilde & has a good friend who is black (who grew up in London). The friend is very clear that they have faced significant racism living in Denmark

I genuinely think the population is on the up in Scotland. I’ve seen a more the last few years than in the preceding 25. Also they are definitely being picked up more frequently in ecological monitoring surveys.

Possibly due to increased red squirrel population 🐿️

I heard a rumour that because the route was purchased/contracts signed, monitoring/maintenance will be carried out for years on the sections north of Birmingham that aren’t going to be built

That’s poor contract management, we are paying for monitoring impacts that havent actually happened 🤷‍♀️🙈

Worth remembering that in Scotland Building Standards are still within the scope of Local Authorities
