BBC1's Christmas night premiere in 1981 was Loophole, an Albert Finney/Martin Sheen bank heist film (25% on Rotten Tomatoes) that was only released in cinemas that February and legend has it ITV assumed was a codename to cover something huge when they saw the schedule.

The Temple of Doom after the Queen’s Speech in 1987. Monkey brains and hearts ripped out of chests, all with the tone of an angry writer working through his divorce.

Jagged Edge on Christmas Eve in 1988. There was a deluge of complaints about its lack of festivity on the next edition of Open Air.

My GCSE Chemistry lesson always started 10mins late cos half of us were discussing Twin Peaks and the other half discussing the under 18s night at Tramps Nightclub. I got a C at GCSE Chemistry, didn’t miss a Twin Peaks, didn’t go to Tramps til well into my 20s.

A highly recommended listen. Anything that sends me back to the first episode of ‘Twin Peaks’ is a Good Thing.
