Created/co-wrote Golden Heroes (it’s in Wikipedia). Write/publishes various other TTRPGs on an iPAD in his bedroom. Easing back into my gaming & TTRPG con addiction ATM.

My games:

Two I contacted the creators about:

Year of the Rabbit - only ran for 6 episodes, alas!

I once saw a Superhero web-series called Knightmare and Decoy (Decoy was the sidekick). I‘m not even sure if its still available.

One I considered: Commando Comics.

I know and I don’t want to get into a discussion here, but I subscribe to the maxim that all feedback is good feedback.

No matter how awful they may be, I smile and try to ask them why they feel that way.

I do play testing.

Someone giving up their time to playtest my game says they’d prefer another system.

I say “Thank you. Which system and why?”

Worst case scenario I just smile and go away and ignore what they said.

Best case scenario I smile and go away having maybe learnt something I can use.

100 hit points? 88 Strength? Buckets of dice?

Give me a break!

(I quite enjoyed the dungeon, though! Played with my d6 only D&D hack.)

When was the last time you replayed a favourite game from the 1980s?

Served in a communal room with sugar bowls on the table containing open sugar to share.

It was like going back to the 1980’s.

I’m sorry, I prefer today. Hotel buffet breakfast. Sugar/sweetener in sealed sachets.

Fastplay narrative trindie games. FTW.

Bless You!

Put the set-up I used yesterday to shame.

By the time the event finally comes around I might have lost interest in that game or that scenario.

Does anyone else feel like this?

….sometimes fulfilment takes years. I’ve heard people say “I’d forgotten I’d backed that.”

Has anyone lost interest in a project by the time it’s appeared? I suspect I would.

With me it’s conventions. Sometimes you have to decide what you want to do months in advance of an event.

I believe Brian Ansell started TC but had moved on by the time I came aboard.

Did he start Asgard miniatures in Nottingham? Making figures with thick robes and that classic figure of the fighter holding a torch and a wooden shield in the same hand!

1982 I believe.

And if I could draw like that I wouldn’t be writing TTRPGs.

The artist was Jeremy “Jez” Goodwin who did illos for Trollcrusher and later went on to sculpt figures for Games Workshop.

…set of TTRPG rules - Golden Heroes - felt able to get it typed up and printed in the same A5 format as TROLLCRUSHER.

Where did you get your start?

Just collect all those old Dennis the Ogre cartoons together and show you all! But I don’t even have one.

Anyway, as I say my writing was sh*t. BUT it showed me that I could write and get stuff into print. So when, a couple of years later, I found myself on possession of a halfway decent…
