My kids say my 4 things are The War on Cars, science, being a dad, and jazz. I can’t argue with that. Take a walk, ride a bike. Carondelet Park stan account. (he/him)
Excellent read.

Hi. Can I say I really identify with this post, as a divorced dad? As in, I’m also this guy? I’ve not really had a conversation with my ex about how she feels about it, but yeah, I’m doing all these things that I avoided when we were married. And, it’s probably worth reflecting on why.

There hasn’t been a statewide Democrat that has significantly passed 40% of the vote since Galloway was last elected auditor. I’m not about to hold my breath that this is the turning point.

I don’t know. Is there any video proof? (Jk - I’ve actually seen you do it in person, Green Tour, STL).

What is up with that? I am in no way superior, that’s literally what I said. Anyway, have a nice day.

That’s just it. I’m not some super-athlete. I’m overweight. I just know that it’s an incredibly inefficient use of resources to move a 200lb human body with 3000lbs of metal. So, I’ve figured out how to do it better. I’m only “atypical” in the sense that car-first is typical in the US.

Rarely in STL is it 90 AND raining, but rain is no issue. Just wear rain gear. Cold is no problem, I’d much rather bike in cold than drive. Costco is no challenge with a cargo bike, I’ve done it with my e-bike. I grocery shop with my bike several times a week.

I’m an average middle aged guy in an average Midwest city (STL). I’ve literally done every one of those. I don’t do too much icy, but any street that one can drive on safely I can bike on. Two (bike to work in 90 degrees and bike to a sports practice) in the last week.

I love the movie “The Big Short” for many reasons. Not least of which is Mark. Baum’s speech near the end that has an eternal truth : “For 15000 years, fraud and short-sighted thinking have never, ever worked. Not once. Eventually you get caught.” I still cling to hope that’s true.
