The media is failing abjectly in how it is framing what this administration is doing.
Has congress passed a law superseding or eliminating the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961?

Has the Supreme Court declared it unconstitutional?

Then why are journalists reporting that Trump and Musk are "shutting down" USAID. They are not authorized to do so.

NEW: My staff has confirmed reports that Medicaid portals are down in all 50 states following last night's federal funding freeze. This is a blatant attempt to rip away health care from millions of Americans overnight and will get people killed.

The grant and supply cancellations/pauses at NIH are so disheartening. @rokhanna.bsky.social @khanna.house.gov we need your support to restart the flow of funding back into NIH. We've only just scratched the surface with Alzheimer's treatments. America need NIH to be a leader.

Thank you @khanna.house.gov @rokhanna.bsky.social for offering your support for the Credit for Caring Act. Caregivers like me spend thousands of dollars and hours of time caring for our loved ones with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other long-term care needs. #ENDALZ

The assault on NIH is a test for how the national media covers the Trump admin: Trump is shutting down medical research!

That is easy to communicate. Will they treat it as a 5 alarm fire in a way that forces the government to respond, or will they downplay & caveat it?

Attn: @rokhanna.bsky.social @padilla.senate.gov @schiff.senate.gov - As a constituent who is a caretaker to a mother with dementia, these NIH studies are hugely important to me and everyone hoping for a cure or better treatments with Alzheimer's/dementia. Please raise your voices to get these back!
NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.

Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.
