Revoking the CHIPS Act would threaten not only the current boom in US semiconductor investment but also any future programs incentivizing investment to compete with China. The Trump admin should make funding more targeted & efficient, including by reforming its over-budget tax credit.
The CHIPS Act already puts America first. Scrapping it would poison the well for US investment.
In his recent speech to Congress, President Donald Trump claimed that companies receiving CHIPS and Science Act subsidies “take our money, and they don’t spend it,” urging lawmakers to “get rid of” it...
