Since there's yet another round of "NATO expansion caused Russia to invade Ukraine in Feb 2022" on various platforms, I'll repeat: there was *no* prospect of Ukraine joining NATO after Russia's 2014 annexation of Crimea and its war in Eastern Ukraine. NATO, Ukraine, and Russia all knew that.
