Sometimes art speaks in ways words cannot.

Fires ripple in the night,
a paean to the gods of the land.
Our souls beat like drums that crash
and we leap the flames
knowing only of the sun's return.

I will be found
on the breath of the wind
and the petals of the flowers,
in the voices of each bird
and the flutter of every moth at night.
But please don't look for me in sorrow
for the world continues to spin
and you are ever loved.

May I be a hand for those who need to be held
an overflowing cup in a dry desert,
a morsel, a mouthful, a meal for those filled with emptiness.
May I be a navigator on the endless ocean
bringing light and clarity to those who sail the seas of the soul
until the waves are calm.

I am taking the first steps
of a person surrounded
by the jewels of whispered words
and sipping the golden luxuries
of bird song and ochre paintings.
I inhale
calling the world into my soul,
inviting the genius of daimons.
I sigh
for my path of color and symphony,
sparkling with morning dew.

Fingers of earliest green
take my hand and help me seek the sun.
Dust the frost from me
and point me towards the light,
reminding me there is a spring.

The first shoots of spring are the toughest! Let's face it we are in a sh** show in the U. S. Call on the strength of the earliest shoots and blooms. If there are none where you live, work with wood, twigs and branches that survive the winter storms. #WitchSky

Winter's ragged breath no longer scars the earth
or sinks its nails into the wakening trees.
Spring's kiss delights the flowers
and they sigh like silk
as it caresses their butterfly wing bodies.

We feast on light and milk
our eyes bright like snowdrops
as the sun rises over us
and Brigid's hand blesses us.

In the belly of the earth,
the seeds of spring
reach towards the sky,
bolstering us with their journey.

Tonight we need flowers.
Your words would meet me
in our field of bowed heads.
The wind rustling every little petal
as we sit here in this valley of wolves.
The grass would rise to the sky
like our hands
hoping for a better tomorrow.

The swamp gives pause.
Gators turn their snouts to the sky
and the great blue herons,
speckled white with snowflakes,
tuck their heads beneath their wings.
Cypress knobs survey their domain and
the swamp falls into distant dreams.
Ever wonder what snow in the swamp would look like? This is 5 miles into the Louisiana swamps in the Atchafalaya basin... it's unreal... having lived down there for the first 28 years of my life, we never saw anything like this.

Smashed records.

Birdsong caresses the lakeside
and trebles and altos ring out.
Juncos and cardinals sing,
heralding the coming
of the sun and
its weak warmth
in the
cold.

Ever expanding,
stars gleam like a starling's wing.
A galaxy blooms.

They have made us into ghosts
but no exorcism
will remove us from this nation.
We are the specters
haunting the rich
and pouring poison into their ears.
We are the ghouls
they never knew would come
when they told us to go.
We are the people
and we will rise.

Pine trees
on frosted paths
watch the frozen forest
ancient specters of lonely days
and sway.

It's not the power,
but the voices that are behind it.
It is the forging of the heart
and the fire in our spark
that leads us through the dark
and hammers for the righteous.
Against all that is uncompromising,
it is the human spirit rising.

Silence flutters down
like a dust mote
and engulfs me like a flame
in the corner of the forest
where mushrooms and ferns sprout
on the decaying corpses of mossy logs.

Winter's breath exhales
snow gathers like soft starlings
fox footfalls whisper.
Hey
It's Fox Friday
You know you want it

We meet each other where we are,
our crowns brushing high against one another
and the winter birds singing in our hands.

We see each other where we are,
the last of our leaves whispering in the wind,
and the morning shadows holding us close.
We meet each other where we are.

“Who is this flower above me, and what is the work of this God? I would know myself, in all parts.” - Victor Anderson

I am each petal coated in dew
and the stamen covered in gold.
I am the pistil reaching for the endless universe.
