I really liked Ultraman X. It's a great reminder of just about everything I love about Ultraman, and serves as a needed course correction for the New Gen series. Part of me wishes it was longer, but for what we got, it's really solid. Loved all the Gomoras.

The returning Ultras were all fun, with a special highlight being Nexus. There's a few too many returning monsters for my liking, but that's what budget cuts will get ya. The few new monsters are all pretty cool though. Love those Showa Kaiju, but X is begging for his own roster.

I was a SSSS. Gridman fan before watching any Ultraman, and X feels about as close as an Ultra series can get to Gridman before just being Gridman, even in the way that X himself is a constant presence talking to Daichi. It's a fun dynamic and a nice spin for an Ultra series.

X strikes a good balance between its overarching plot and fun episodic premises, and provides a good deal of the variety I look for in Ultra series. Characters are fun, the fights are well done, and I really liked X as an Ultra.

Definitely. Both those colors just eat the detail and make it seem even cheaper. Like an unpainted prototype of a Nerf gun.

X is out here fighting for his life with nothing but a Gomora and a dream, and then Ginga and Victory are just like "yeah dude we know loads of other Ultramen, we're friends with monsters too" like dang.

An Ultraman with RGB lighting feels so incredibly stupid but honestly it's a fun way to have a techy upgrade for our boy. I'm here for it.

I think it's funny how Xio doesn't bother to question who X is or what his motives might be, they just immediately trust him and start emailing him superweapons.

Every time my brother joins me for some Ultraman it always ends up being the goofy episodes and it's never on purpose. I don't know what he thinks Ultraman is about.

That's not to say that an Ultra series needs blood to be good, moreso that treating the Kaiju like living creatures that are dealt with in less than ideal ways is inherently more interesting than basically just being video game enemies that are beat before joining your roster.

So far I've been really enjoying X, and almost all of issues are mostly just tied into how lame I find the Sparkdolls. X turning his enemies into dolls is sorta existentially horrifying but overall, it makes it feel sorta gutless. Ultraseven used to slit throats.
