I'd love to be seeing Kilauea in person again, but this will do. Less dramatic way to observe an eruption, versus the first time I saw it in 2001. Let's just say the adults (I was a child) made some very dumb touristy decisions. Don't go volcano-watching at night without a guide. 😅

TikTok blatantly scratching some backs.

Very unsettling to see such obvious manipulation yet sadly unsurprising.

Well, it was fun for the 3-4 weeks that it lasted. Sleep schedule completely flipped again and I'll be stuck "nocturnal" for a while until it creeps back around. I will say, that's my longest daytime normie run so far, though.

I'm trying to avoid posting politics on this account (the burnout is real, we all need a palate cleanser) but the mental gymnastics I saw this morning was ASTOUNDING.

The incredibly fascinating and unsettling moment a 7.2 (USGS reports it as 7.1) earthquake hits, captured underwater. Yet another way to visualize the astounding power of seismic activity.

Shoutout to my extraordinarily talented aunt. Almost 10 years ago to the day, she needed a name for her latest piece. She chose my suggestion and it's still one of the coolest things that's ever happened to me.

The death of a cetacean is always an upsetting sight to see, but it offers a fantastic opportunity to learn more about these exceptionally rare ocean enigmas. The numbers of spade toothed whales are still entirely unknown. 🐋

Good morning, Bluesky! Don't mind me while I infodump my hyperfocus of the hour: gray whale feeding habits.

Gray whales are the only known bottom-feeding baleen whales. Diet can vary between the Pacific and Atlantic species but the goal is still the same: little critters like amphipods and isopods.

Wow. So the new FedEx ad is super gross. Explain to me, why are we hailing those who kill animals for absolutely no reason as "heroes"? Reminder: you are MOST likely to get bitten by a snake when you start messing with it (wild, I know). Either leave it alone or call a professional.

The ad:

FedEx continues its "Tall Tales of True Deliveries" by telling the tale of Matt, a fearless FedEx delivery driver, as he approaches a house in the middle of a daring delivery. Spying the por...
